problems with dough thorley long tubes

im trying to convince my dad to let me get dough thorley long tubes for my 4.0. he's old school so he thinks hes gana have to torque the bolts that hold the headers to the block every three months or something. is this true? and when you use the o2 simulator, does the check engine light still work for other stuff?

 

If he thinks that then buy some loctite. There's some that formulated for heat.

 

You might have to tighten a couple of times. Every header or manifold I've put on, the bolts have loosened a couple times before they stay put. You might want to try Stage-8 header bolts, I've heard great things about them.

 

I've never had any issues with mine coming loose. After you torque them down, go out for a spin, let the headers get hot. Come back, let the motor completely cool down, re-tighten the headers, and you should never have to worry about them again.

the o2 sim only eliminates the CEL for the front cats. All other CELs will still illuminate as they are supposed to.

 

i installed my o2 sim and i was told this is for the rear cats.

 

The o2 sensor monitors the health of the front set of catalytic converters. The rear set of cats are unmonitored. So you only need the o2 sim if you have bypassed the front cats.

 

All the o2 sim. does is tells the computer that the cats are there and functioning properly!

 

Why don't you get some of those "Stage 8 locking fasteners" ?

 

usually u have more problems with taking the bolts loose.
