    I'll re-ask my question here.

Most canopies are rated below 200lbs capacity for on top storage. So can someone explain to me how people are running a tent setup (like CVT) with roof racks and sleeping in it. I haven't seen any external frames that go from the roof rack to the bed. They've all been mounted to roof rack which are themselves mounted to the canopy. Thanks

Snugtop offers a Sportsman package that increases the load limit to 500 lbs. so far it's the only one I've found that does that. I've been checking into them this week.

Yeah the capper needs an internal frame, usually aluminum, to help carry the load. A big misnomer is putting Thule or Yakima racks on a capper, and they will say "Oh they are rated for#500lbs", when in fact you are limited by the load capacity of the topper at #200 or less.

Up by Bridgeport? (If so, check out the hot springs and I'll also tell you a spot up high to camp too! )

Most canopies are rated at 150lb dynamic weight. That's weight while the vehicle is moving (and there are vertical forces at play, multiplying the stress applied on the canopy by the weight on its roof). RTTs are usually under that limit. When the vehicle is stationary, the canopy can hold a lot more weight, thus people sleeping on it in RTTs.

That said, I personally still wouldn't do it. When/if I get a RTT, I'll have an internal frame made that will support the canopy from the inside.

Travertine is a nice soak but it's pretty trashed. I like the Buckeye Spring. Lots of places to camp in this area!

I've seen things at Travertine that cannot be unseen!! Won't go back there!!

Buckeye on weekdays is great. And in winter. But stay away on weekends!
