I had the TSB applied last week. It has been a great improvement, although it is still a shifty little beast. I have never owned a vehicle that shifts as much as this truck. I'm just glad I can actually use the cruise control now. It seems to downshift when it needs to and it shifts back to overdrive at the top of the hill now. Now ... if we could just get a TSB that would add a turbo and about 100 lb/ft of torque on the bottom end. :D

They mentioned that they ran another "piggyback" update at the same time. They said they didn't know what the second update was for, but that it popped up along with the TSB for the transmission. Has anyone else heard about this mysterious "piggyback" update???

I never had any of the problems with the transmission to begin with. The only time I did notice it searching for gears was on 6% grades while towing but some finesse on the throttle helped a little. Since the TSB she does quite a bit better on the grades towing. I'd recommend the update. image.jpg

Had the TSB done yesterday. Went for a rid this morning and all the problems are gone. It shifts beautifully now. Bout time they came up with a fix. Almost thought of trading it in.

Just got mine updated at AutoNation in Austin and will give it a week before I make a judgement but my initial impressions are positive. On a side note.. the dealer response on this issue was great! They didn't mess around trying to reproduce the issue.. they took my word for it and applied the software update. In and out in 1.5 hours.

I just got this TSB taken care of today. Got to drive the truck 50 miles or so today and I already feel a noticeable difference in shifting patterns. Much smoother ride now.

Got the TSB applied a few days ago. I brought the printout in of the TSB - easier than trying to explain it over the phone or have them try and figure it out on their own. They stapled the TSB right to the work order and flashed the ECM without any push back.

Now it is much more responsive shifting on local roads, hope it continues. Transmission fluid was already topped off by the dealer a month ago. As opposed to most, before the update I was actually finding that the adaptive learning was allowing each gear to hold *longer* anyway but I still felt like I was fighting the truck all the time with the shifting; now it's more natural. I also just drove 350 miles on the highway and here is where the difference really is for me - much less gear hunting. It holds 6th longer on cruise control and when it needs a little more it tries 5th for a little extra power. This takes care of most of the small hills. It will still drop to 4th as needed but does so smoothly and doesn't slam down into 4th like it used to. I'm very happy with it now. Thanks for the great thread.

Had transmission TSB done for a week no drive ability has much improved shifting is smoother no longer hunts for gears all the time don't know if the transmission has to relearn driving habits but the thing feels good cruise control stays in gear longer on hills plenty of reserve power hope it holds.
