I know Benwa was making these kits back in the day, but has been distant the past few years. Does anyone have this in the wood work? I think a rear power sliding window would be badass!:mudding:

I've heard. There are a couple 17s at my local dealership that I'm probably going to go check out here pretty soon. I could never trade in my 15 though, I love her too much

You might be able to retro the 2017 tacoma kit into your truck. Pretty much same truck, wouldn't be surprised if the rear windows are the same.

I have a feeling that it will not work... the new gen is actually completely different from the 2nd gen.

Of all the mods to my Tacoma - fog lamp anytime, 400 watt interior, Max air AC, etc, my power rear slider is THE MOST used and practical mod to date!! Not difficult but does require craftsmanship. Toyota really missed the boat on this one. Lots of info on TW for the adventurous.

You must of talked to seatbelt mike, look at your trucks frame and then compare to a 3rd gen. THe trucks share a lot of similarities.

All I'm saying is look at your rear window and backseat storage area compared to a 3rd gen, they are similar. So 2nd gen guys may be able to retro the 3rd gen parts to work with 2nd gen trucks.

seatbelt mike? The 3rd gen has no similarities. just because it appears to look similar does not mean it is. the frame is completely different. the quality in steel is even difference. literally everything is different except for the name

I launched them back when I was at a dealership.. I will try to find my files for the entire spec of the Tacoma... it shows how different it is compared to 2nd gen

I agree, glass part numbers seem to be the same for both gens on the fixed glass. They all share a 64810 part code across sliders, fixed and convenience pkg as well.

I just looked up rear glass part numbers and for the fixed glass they both share the same part # for a 2012 and a 2016, that lets us know the rear window dimensions are the same.

    2012-
    64810-04060

Toyota is going to spin it as all new, they had to since Chevy brought The Colorado. Toyota couldn't come to the plate saying its much of the same with improvements, no one would want to hear that after a 1oyr run.

Good news is rear glass looks to be the same, see my above post. So we might be able to retro into our 2nd gens.

You can't be serious. For example, the entire fuckin bed/bed rail system is the exact same as the 2nd gen. Just because the fenders are different and make the bed artificially an inch taller doesn't mean it's "completely" different.

I'm honestly hoping your post was just some sarcasm I missed.

I'll bet that if Toyota sells all the Tacoma's that they can make this year and next and the next, they cold give a shit what anyone on TW thinks about how they market their "all new" - redesigned - warmed over - over priced - etc - "new" Tacoma. What's all the fuss?

I imagine the 17s can be retrofitted to the 2015 but it will be awhile before the 17s start showing up in junkyards
