Had my trans flashed, that worked so far. If every truck did not have the r to d problem etc. I am suspicious that those that did have it have hardware problems. If they would just fix the buzz I would leave it go for a while. It is not normal for a supposed quality vehicle,in fact it sucks.

Careful stating not so sunny facts about the third gen can get you lambasted by the brand loyalists here...

I had that exact problem and complained to Toyota Corporate using the safety issue, which I figured was the appropriate approach, given that I was concerned about losing full control of the vehicle in an emergency avoidance maneuver with numbed arms. Their response was: "Steering functions as designed."

They are hiding their head in the sand and if someone ends up having an issue and has documented their complaint with Toyota, they are toast in court.

    @Doobiewah

I have hope after all the transmissions were "working as designed" that then got an update, that this too will get fixed. It is fatiguing on long drives for sure. A few months back I drove my Tahoe for 19 hours from Wyoming to Oregon straight though. I don't think I could do that in the Taco. I am heading to Montana next month for a backpack trip. 11 hours we will see what happens to the jello arms!

Makes absolutely no sense that we'd have to buy an aftermarket exhaust to eliminate an issue that isnt present in any normal, luxury or POS brand vehicle. I've driven military vehicles that vibrate less than my $40k Tacoma.

Awesome on the backpack trip, especially in Montana. I spent several days in Glacier back in '87. I miss those days, the friends who used to go all drifted away. Now I tow a camper. :)
I have the issue too btw. I'm going to wait a bit and if Toyota does nothing I may turn it back in and get something else. Glad I got a lease on this one.

Well guys sorry to report that after having more time with the Borla, the vibration is still strong. Don't know if it was a placebo at first or it has changed over time. I felt in the beginning it had been reduced a bit. Honestly it may be even worse in the floorboard now. But the exhaust still sounds really nice.

I just try to stay out of the range with the manual transmission....sorry to not be able to help any more with it now. After driving a new one on the lot that had it, I just accepted it was a shitty part of the design. I'm now distracted with my differential howling and will be trying to get that fixed. The vibration for now is just something to deal with and is one of the major reasons the tacoma might not be the 15+ year truck I hoped it would be for me.

That's where I am headed! Super excited. I have always wanted to go to Glacier. Just hope I don't get eaten by a bear.

Rather than give the guy a hard time for doing something proactive AND putting on a sweet exhaust system, why don't you just take the next step and berate EVERYONE that purchased a truck that has multiple-significant issues. Thanks to sites like this one quite a few people still bought a Tacoma knowing that it wasn't perfect. Don't you think Toyota would have fixed this sucker a long time ago? If the truck as boycotted I betcha this wouldn't be an issue.

My point is,,,, give the guy a break. He did what he thought was a good idea. (You are right,,, Toyota doesn't care unless they have to)
My '02 Tundra had some of the same issues that are still going on (rear end clunk for one). I loved the truck but I'm not going to pull the trigger on another Toyota until they start to give a shat.

Agreed. Had I been aware of this fix, I would have still taken the refund as the vibrations were causing the dash components to rattle. I did not want the dealer tearing the dash apart on a truck with 2200 miles.

Well, add to those military vehicles my Harley Road King w/Screaming Eagle Racing kit....compared to the Taco, my HD is smooooooooth as silk....and nary a numb hand/arm, either. My most embarrassing moment in the Taco, though, was when an employee, who just bought the cheapest Kia on the market, pointed out that his car had literally no vibration at all that he could feel, even under load. I took him up on it and, sure thing, quite smooth...and he paid like $13500 OTD. Sad.

No sheeeet, then he asked me why I ever bought the truck. I just had to smile, and decided to never let him ride in the Taco, again. (head smack, here!)

Did you notice the vibe in the pedal, wheel or both? Thanks. I can't locate a 17 yet to drive.

Getting rid of mine by the end of this yr if no fix comes out. Said I'd give myself a year to wait.

Have you thought about trying the dual exhaust to see if it resolves the issue?
