    same shit as everyone else
Anyone out seeing the meteor showers this weekend? I drove out to Shuttle lake and then south. Great view out here. My CVT hasn't seen any love for a month and needed some love. I'm driving Old Santiam Wagon road tomorrow. Anyone been out that way before? Brought a shit load of Tannerite but no where to shoot yet.

Good news for me. Looks like I'll be in a new job in a couple weeks. Better pay, 4x10 schedule but offering 7x10. Bad news is that I'll be around Umatilla, Quincy, or Yakistan for work for a few months until the company can lock in work around Spokane. Doing some math, if I work 6x10s for 12 weeks, the overtime alone will put about $7000 extra in my pocket. That doesn't include the regular pay or per diem. I'm now thinking about getting a little travel trailer to put on my truck and sleep in the parking lot of the job sites. Have to convince the wife on that part, but if I can have a brand new trailer paid off in 4 months all while still getting payments done on everything else, that could make this worthwhile. Now for the diesel engine swap for my little taco...

Grats on the new job! I love and hate my 4x10s right now haha. I love three day weekends but hate the 520am start time for days i do work.

As for the travel trailer....i had a buddy who bought a cheap old one (like 60's) when he had to travel for work. bought it for like 2k and sold it for almost the same so it was close to being "free". Was not something Id want long term but it worked for the couple months he needed.

Also knew a guy who basically "camped" for a couple months. But he found a campground with a free shower and bathroom so he had that going for him. But slept in the back of his SUV (dont remember what it was) and had a generator and setup a small tv to watch movies and stuff.

I did the travel trailer thing for a while,(3 years) it's not bad if you can find a decent place to park it. Dry camping gets old real fast, especially in 100F+ heat... full hook-ups make lt more like living in an apartment, but the good ones run $350 a month or more plus the cost of your RV. However if you don't like your neighbors you can drive off. To be honest it's much nicer than living in your average neighborhood full of grouchy old bastards.

Legally you just have to spend more than 30 days a year in it.

You can find a decent room rate in Umatilla if you need.
But if you get sent to Quincy good fucking luck Idk if they get gov cheese or what but a couple months ago the best we could get was $70 a night cash and it was a dump. we payed for 4 nights then got moved out a day early an gave them 24 hrs notice and they refused to refund us. The next cheapest was $85 a night. Fuck Quincy, lots of hotties at the gym thou.

Dude umatilla is the armpit of Oregon. I don't know when you were last there, but after the depot shut down it went south. Fast. There are like 9 strip clubs there now, bums everywhere, etc.

Edit: It actually places 6th on the list, but I don't know when it was updated. https://www.roadsnacks.net/these-are-the-10-most-miserable-cities-in-oregon/

I had to stay at a hotel down there and there was a hole in my room's door (it didn't even latch), there was a guy standing in a hallway door smoking, and I was took my dogs out into the "dirt" and dodged hypodermic needles and countless piles of dog shit.

They last couple of times we've stayed there on trips there are aggressive dopers everywhere. One guy stood in front of my truck as I got coffee... I made up something completely random and yelled it at him and he got confused and left. I out-crazied his crazy!

I didn't say the whole place was decent I said you can get a decent room rate and make some money lol.
I stay in hotels 6-7 months a year for work. I've seen it all man it takes a pretty bad place to make me upset.
And trust me Umatilla is actually pretty far from the bottom.

The place in Quincy we stayed at for $70 the plug ins were so wore out your phone charger won't even stay on them there fucking like 2 bucks. For the $140 he screwed us for ya think he could replace a couple LOL.

Thanks for advice guys. The tax deduction part is good to know. Sounds like I'll be spending about 3-4 months out of town working in data centers for mickeysoft, Amazon, and/or Google. Hitting 30 days in there should be pretty easy, especially since they are going to be looking for 7x10s.

As long as you don't mind:
    A) possibly trimming some fender plastic to clear
    B) power/mpg loss that comes with 35" tires
