Bilstein 1500 series lift

Hello, recently I upgraded to the bilstein 5100 series struts and shocks. After putting the Front Struts on it lifted the Front about 2 to 2.5 inches. I thought it looked maybe an inch to a half inch higher in the front compared to the back now. My friend that helped me with the install said we needed to lift the back too. So we did add a leaf. Now the truck sits higher in the back than it does in the front by about 1.5 inches. My friend says its supposed to be that way incase you decide to tow something. Is he correct? I would kind of like to have the truck level. Please tell me what you out there think. I am also wondering if it is going to be necessary to drop the fron differential to even out the front ball joints etc... Thank you in advance!

 

to level out a first gen, you want to be at a 1.5 to 1 inch difference from rear to front, so if you lifted the front 3 inches, 1.5 to 1.75 in the rear will even out...

at 2.5 up front, you only really need to lift the rear 1.25 at most

but given you just did the install, give the rear some time to settle... you can throw some sand bags in the bed for a few weeks to help the leafs settle...
