Don't know anything about a new sign. Haven't been since last summer. From the looks of that post, it's closed, but still possible to do it.

btw, looking like doubtful for the trip after all. I think I already have something planned that weekend.

Does anyone have time off during that week? Thinking about running slick rock during the week if we don't get to it on the weekend, but who knows DV may be out :(

Since Dakota and I are coming down for a limited amount of time I'm not sure deer valley is a good idea, in case it's closed. Kinda wastes a good bit of the day. And we want to go wheeling..
So back to option 1, is anyone else open to running the rubicon? Don't want it to be just me and Dakota..

I would be down if I wasn't running it the following week for MCR and then back to Tahoe again for my bachelor party the next weekend.

Damn :( we will probably end up doing it even if no one else comes just because we are driving this far, might as well. Just be nice to do it with some others, in case something breaks and just to wheel with some more people

Deer Valley is closed... :( I actually came across a video and the description said that there are signs up at Deer Valley to stop vehicles from entering the trail.

Yup you're right :( Dakota and I came to the conclusion that since we are driving that far, and the rubicon is that close, we are going to run it that first weekend.

So is anyone interested in running the rubicon with us? @RelentlessFab you free to go? Start Friday or Saturday, doesn't matter to us

I'm just going to put out there that I really don't recommend the RTTs on the Rubicon. There's a lot of off camber stuff that can easily put you on your side without so the extra weight, IMO, isn't worth it. Ground tents are pretty much the norm on the Rubicon.

Also little bit of a fair warning, you're probably going to run the trail in the worst condition I've seen it in. Even though TLCA's Rubithon, Jeeper's Jamboree Rubicon Run and a few other runs have taken place, the Rubicon is far less forgiving then years previous.

For those asking about Deer Valley, my suggestion is to stop reading forum posts from various sites and start reading the actual literature of the closure and why (or call ranger offices). Deer Valley 4wd trail crosses two different national forests. The closure is 3.17 miles long and the Stanislaus National Forest (highway 4) side of the trail is not closed. They placed signs on both trail heads, but that doesn't mean the whole trail is closed. It's kind of like the signs you see on highway 80 way down towards Sacramento that the highway is closed due to snow, but it's closed farther up the road.

Here is the closure map: http://a123.g.akamai.net/7/123/1155...i.com/11558/www/nepa/99938_FSPLT3_2376298.pdf
Here is the restoration project. Note the "forest order" where they placed signs at both trail heads: http://a123.g.akamai.net/7/123/1155...i.com/11558/www/nepa/99938_FSPLT3_2376299.pdf
GPS coordinates of the closed portion based off landmarks in the above map: 38.598536, -119.924416 through 38.551985, -119.914994

And even if you don't run DV due to closures or whatever, Slick Rock is right down the street! 10 minutes down Highway 4 is the entrance to SR.

I'm still down to run the open part of the trail. Anyone else?

Is the open part the same as when you guys ran it last year @jberry813 ? It looked like a lot of fun!

For anyone that is thinking their truck isn't built enough for the rubicon, Califab posted this this morning image.jpg
Just going to take it slow and it'll be fine.

Dakota and I really don't want to run this alone, if we can't get anyone else to go im not sure if we'll come down. Minimize body damage by going slow with a good spotter. Long drive for us and it's a no brainer to run the trail

Yes. And it's a pretty good trail. Better than Slick Rock for sure

But it sounds like the OP is running the Rubicon and not DV/Slick Rock.

I may be in for the Rubicon, but @cbechtold got me worried! I don't want to take off the RTT lol

You could probably make it with the RTT on, but it's just my recommendation that you don't have that extra weight up that high. I wouldn't want someone to go in and comeback saying they rolled their rig because of weight up that high. I'd want everyone to be as safe as possible and have a fun time on the trail since it's probably the hardest trail for the IFS users.

@la0d0g what do you think about running a RTT on the trail? I think you ran it last year or the year before
