Tacomas being traded early?

OK so reading though and thinking of buying has me very worried.
As it's an internet form its a good place to hear about others problems.

Is anyone really happy with their decision of buying a 2016 taco
Or does everyone feel like they just ate too much at the bell

 

Of course I'd say most people are happy. But there are a decent percentage of those who are not happy. It's not the perfect truck that's for sure. Be wary of the issues and proceed with caution if buying.

 

For the most part I am, I got into a lower payment, better APR and more truck than my 15 (even though my 15 was the same config but a TRD Sport, my SR5 now has more feature wise). There are ALOT of improvements from the 2nd to the 3rd gen mostly the interior and cabin refinements. The MPG is so so only a few better than the 2nd gens at least according to Fuelly and many of us here (there are exceptions). Many have had no real issues, some have had little things, others actual issues. Only one I have is the rear diff hum, which still dosent have a solution. I'm guessing by 2021 or when my truck is out of powertrain warranty there will be a solution, it might not even be an issue but just an annoyance, time will tell. There's a few members on here with 16s nearing 50k with no real issues. The 1st gens and 2nd gens had their issues too.

I'd wait a bit. You have up until your 3 year/36k expires to purchase one. See how things go for the guys racking up miles.

I'm happy with my taco but it's not perfect. None of the one's I've owned were but they've been pretty reliable and fun when you get to know their idiosyncrasies.

My 3rd gen has had the LCA and transmission TSB performed and I haven't had any other problems.

I don't tow but I do offroad on logging trails and the beach , I don't need to be the fastest truck on the highway and I used to use S mode to keep the truck out of the OD gears. Since the TSB was performed I haven't needed to modify my driving behavior.

I have always loved Toyota trucks regardless of the warts. Just like some people love little British cars, VW bugs or Mustangs some folks love the brand no matter how much something might be better. What I like may not be what you like so make sure you know what you want the truck to do. They're good trucks but they're not the best choice for everything.

 

I believe the real world mpg's are better, but the power to weight ration is likely greater being a full size. Even though it has a slight power edge it's also heavier I presume. I'm too lazy to look though.

 

That is a disadvantage of living in a small town.

Well I do have a Ford, Ram/Jeep, and Chevy in our small town. So for a mid size pick up, that leaves Chevy. Ford may enter the market again in a year or two. Last I heard Ram has decided not to reenter. Not interested in what Jeep may come up with for a pu.
