I've definitely lived a sheltered life but since I got married that seems to be changing so thank you Leah:rofl:.

And I did update the list with your very pretty and unique name :).

Gigi, I was home schooled. At least for high school. Virtual school sounds very interesting. If you don't mind me asking, are there virtual school academy's that help to keep your little ones on a planned curriculum or does South Carolina allow you to make your own :). Also, I love your pictures. They capture some of the best things I love about South Carolina. They also remind me of the one thing that scares me to death...alligators :(. I use to think I could just run but my husband told me they could not only have me for lunch in one bite they can run fast too :goingcrazy:.

Whatever contraption you decide on, practice, practice practice!! Use it in the shower. Many times. And practice. Again. In the shower. And when you think you've finally mastered the device, practice again!

I 'practiced' a couple times, thought I was a professional, so I took it to the woods with me. Nature called late in the night, I just knew this was going to be a treat. No cold ass dropping trou, mosquito target. Did my business and headed back for my hammock. After a few steps, I sensed what a thought was a wet spot. On. My. Leg. Yup. Device failed. I failed. Something failed. I now I had wet thermal bottoms. In the middle of nowhere. In the middle of winter. And now I had to find some dry clothes to change into...

    So anyways....PRACTICE!! A LOT!!!

Hi Cuffs, I'm Marie :). I think the practice advice might be 100X worth it. The first thing I was thinking is it needs a long hose

Well... What I was using was long enough... Let's just say the device was not ready for the volume... I had a lot of water that day. And I held it far longer than I should have. I was comfortably snug in my hammock and didn't want to get out. Lets just say it was not advisable for use for 'flash floods...'

Weesa, I know you're right...they just act like they do . The picture of the contraption that Joe posted doesn't look like you can aim it very well :goingcrazy:. I would hate to piddle all over my shoes . But I think that where Cuffs was saying practice, practice, and then more practice

We go thru Connections Academy....it is basically a charter public achool...we do get all supplies and books...curriculum.....and we do have what they call live lessons with teachers via Internet 4 days a week. The lessons are a laid out on the calendar. so it's like being in school without the drama that is school. The state is broken up into regions...and we can attend, and get credit for, field trips in any part of the state!

yeah gators will get ya! Of course we also have sharks and jellyfish.....so it's kinda like pick your risk??

    lmaooo

Gigi, that sounds really wonderful. I'm so glad states seem to be realizing that not every child learns the same way and not every child thrives in public school. I don't teach today but I am going to go back to school, I'm hoping this fall, to get my Elementary Education Certificate. When I was home schooled there were classes that my mom didn't want to teach so our home school academy had classrooms and teachers for certain subjects. I might do that but what I'd really like to try is to teach K, 1, 2, or 3. I'm not sure I could handle children older than that...they would be bigger than me

Our issue was the constant badgering to medicate our son. I had been a social worker in a previous career....I have seen the true ADHD kids.....my kid didn't like the kids he was forced to sit beside, and was getting picked on pretty badly (I even took some video).....we pulled him out of k5 and haven't looked back!

I told them where they could put their meds too! especially after I had him evaluated by a specialist they did NOT suggest (indicated they were in each others pockets...).

Check the online schools if you wish to teach too...as most of the teachers we have had left the traditional schools because of the shenanigans.
