I got a question for us VA drivers...do any of you guys have morimoto HIDs and/or LED bulbs in your headlights? If so, do you have to swap them out for state inspections?

I have HID's and no I don't. Most inspectors won't even know it's not stock.

Haven't had an issue and I think I've had my HID's for two inspections.

Thanks Matt for the info! I used to have HIDs in my old taco about 5 years ago, but heard they have started to get stricter and wasnt sure if things had changed.

People stress about certain modifications and inspections, and to be honest, if one inspector is being a dick, throw up deuces and go somewhere else. Some inspectors are stricter than others, but most won't care about modifications as long as it doesn't affect the safety of the vehicle.

Generally agree Matt, problem is you never know if that inspector is being a dick until he slaps the rejection sticker on the vehicle. Then you are sol finding another inspector to overrule it, as the rejection is a matter of record. I take my vehicles to a local shop where they are strict on any safety issue, but for little bs things they aren't so much and just tell me and I fix it. Helps to know the shop owners and inspectors for sure, more of a problem for you Nova guys who might not know someone in a larger suburban/urban area I know.

Thanks for the info guys...so I decided to check out some sunroofs in the area. Anyone around here have one installed in their taco? I called up surfeit and they seem like they know what they are doing but seem pretty expensive. Was curious if anyone might have any recommendations?

You're a brave man! I'm afraid of cutting a giant hole in my roof and the possible consequences!

Besides, I want a roof rack!

In the summer I always start to miss my old 4runner because of the sunroof. I know I would have issues trying to park anywhere in dc for work if I had a roof rack so might as well try to make it more breathable. It seems from some of the shops I have contacted that the leaks on newer sunroofs seem to not be as much these days. Granted I don't think they would downplay their own products though.

Sadly though, this is where the jobs are for me. I would love to live in Loudon...would be so much closer to things that I like.
