3rd Gen Plastidip thread

Me trying to look at the pick from the right angle.

 

How does plasti dip hold up to car washing?

 

I hand wash my car once or twice a week because of where I work. I dont notice any peeling or anything after about 2 months. Thats alot of washes, still looks like the day I did it. If it peels then its a cheap fix to dip it again.

 

If applied right it will not come off.

 

Plastidipped my @Pelfreybilt fuse panel. Thought it might "soften" the edges a bit where the wires will pass through. Plus I had the can laying around from another project so figured I'd use it up.

Amazon boxes came in today so will be wiring it all up in the next few days.

 

Has anyone tried the cammo tan against quicksand? I was thinking about doing my emblem and MAYBE the silver of my wheels. Just wondering how far off the colors are. I know the derp will be matte without the glossifier but I'm not concerned about that.

I have been looking locally for a can and haven't found it yet. I'm going to order online if I can't find one here soon and will post when I find it!

 

Did you remove the emblem to dip it? Cause I'm looking at trying to do the same thing with my logo

 

Yeh, it was super easy but I took the grille off. It's only 2 bolts and two push pins and it's loose. Easy on easy off. It has two tabs that need to be pushed in and one that is stationary so push the two top ones in and lift the emblem up and it's off. But it looks like you already did it once, correct? I will take mine off to do it for sure.

No I never did it, that's one I found on this thread and alright that doesn't sound to hard at all, it seems like everyone's removing the grille on the 3 gens. But thanks for the help!

 

Just have a soft touch with the plastic tabs on the back of the emblem and the chrome surround if you plan on removing that as well. Patience is the key here, something I lacked until I broke one tab on the surround.

 

I have the base model so it comes with a black grille and Zero chrome just emblem is, and I found out today looking at the emblem that it is already loose and was thinking about getting them to replace it or finding another part somewhere

 

I tried the camo tan color on my grill emblem. It's a little lighter than the quicksand paint but close enough for me. I don't have a picture at the moment but I'll post one soon as I can.

 

Nice. I was thinking of what the hell I would do with the rest of the can and thought maybe the matte finish would be cool for the "tacoma" on the doors. Can't wait to see it. Thanks!

 

I think I do like it. Now to find a can locally where I don't have to buy 6. Maybe a base layer of black may darken it up some.

 

I found it at Ace Hardware. They pretty much had every color of plasti dip brand.

 

Yeh, that's what I saw online. The nearest one to me is about an hour out. I do live way in the country but still out of my way even when I go to work. I have a 30" light bar coming to feed my urge to mod for now but my derped badge is going happen.

 

Which color/brand plastidip did you get for your grill?
