Brought my truck to the dealership today, they checked the transmission fluid and it was good. They said they looked up the tsb on Toyota Canada and one did exist. They reflashed the ECU, nothing really noticeable with normal driving but it did appear to fix the cruise issue I was having. anyone should be able to go into their dealership and have the reflash done, seems pretty simple.

Took my Sport in for a six month check up (Sherwood Toyota in Sherwood Park, Alberta) and requested they perform the TSB-077-16 Shift Feeling Enhancement. My truck only experienced issues on finding gears in cruise control and in the short drive home I didn't have a chance to see if there was an improvement.

Glad this was available to Canadians and the Sherwood Toyota team didn't have any concerns finding the TSB and applying it. On the next road trip I'll check out the improvements to cruise control and see if there are any improvements to my mileage.

Here is a photo of the service performed, I looked under the hood and didn't see a sticker.

Isn't it actually TSB TCI-4419 that needs to be applied and no TSB 0077-16?

Right, the TCI-4419 is the Canadian equivalent to TSB-0077-16. When I made my appointment I referenced the TSB # and not the TCI #, so that may be why it was written up on my sheet like that?

I left the print out of TSB-0077-16 with the truck when I dropped it off, which has the OP Code listed. I still haven't had a chance to test the improved cruise control but the vehicle was recalculating my mileage so something was done to the system during my appointment.

Tested the TSB out on about 6 hours of hilly highway driving this weekend. With the cruise control on or off it approaches hills much better than before. Before, my truck seemed to shift 6th to 4th at every single highway hill. Now it seems to be smoother and will go from 6, to 5, hold 5 for as long as possible, and then to 4.

Highway acceleration passing shifts seem much smoother and quicker than before.

I did have one instance of 4th gear hang up after cresting a hill though, this happened maybe 1 time out of 30.

Fuel economy looks to be unchanged.

A lot of people are saying "OMG it's like a totally different truck!!". I don't think I'd agree with that. It's better, definitely noticeably better, but it's still a 6 speed double overdrive transmission.

I've heard from two people who have gone in looking for TRD Pro prices, literally just for a laugh, who were told September is the likely date. The first Canadian build dates are next week so add on shipping and processing time... we should see some 2017's in September.

Oh, and Toyota will NOT be building all of the TRD Pro's right off the bat. I know, obviously right. However some folks are preordering TRD Pro's. Unfortunately because the number is capped and Toyota wants them to be available in some amount all year some people ordering TRD Pro's may not see theirs for a few months.

If Toyota uses the same math as the rest of the Tacoma line you are looking at 48K CAD for a Pro before taxes. I'd guess that after delivery and taxes you'll be looking at a truck worth well over 50K. Perhaps as high as 55K depending on the dealer and PST.

    Start saving the pennies.

What is a realistic OTD price to get into a 6MT DoubleCab, seems like TRD Sport is the only trim anyway. Just base TRD package, no extras. MSRP is damn $41,165 including all fees, tax, freight etc in AB.

You're probably pretty accurate in the low-40ish range for Alberta. I got my automatic DCLB TRD Sport with the upgrade package for $42,500 OTD. So subtract a grand here and there for MT and no sunroof and I'd say you're probably looking at ~$40k.

Though at the time I ordered mine, they still weren't in regular stock at dealerships yet. Maybe with some on the lot availability you might even have some more barter power.

So should not expect more than $500 - $1000 under MSRP OTD on a new Tacoma, right?

TRD Off Road DC is interesting, auto only or manual as well?

Should be both. But from what I understand they are both short box only. The rest of the double can autos will still be the long box.

2-3 WEEKS, looks like roughly September 9-11. At least that is when we will be getting them here.

Our First TRD PRO lands September 15. Already sold of course. They are only supplying sold orders for now it seems but there is only going to be 250ish in Canada spread over the course of the year.
