I've got a line on a CPO 2016 Taco TRDOR that was used as a dealer loaner. Has 4800miles, always serviced by Toyota according to the CarFax I pulled on it. CarFax is also clean so I feel confident with the purchase if I move forward on it.

They're asking $38500, pretty much new pricing. My goal is to get price down to $34k + TTL. From my research, somewhere between 34k and 35.5k is fair. Decent deal or should I just go with new?

Never done CPO purchase before so that's pretty much what I'm asking about.

I'm picking up a 2017 TRDOR this week for 35k. For the price they are asking I'd want a new 2017.

Good luck, I'd want to be at 34k, I bet they are going to play hard ball.

Being a ¨Certified¨ Pre-owned they are going to ask a little more for it. Basically CPO means it meet certain criteria which is usually a mileage cap, and an age cap, which this being a 2016 obviously it meets that. The thing that would concern me was the fact you said it was used as a dealer loaner. Come on, we all know how loaner vehicles are treated. I would go for new.

They're asking "never driven" money for a demo. I'd get one with no miles for that price. Also, keep in mind that "price" is only part of the financing picture. You also need to know who's financing it and the terms...good price with bad interest rate is bad price.

Know your credit score...make them show it to you. Shop the loan.

If you're paying cash, negotiate the price as if you are going to get a loan. They'll give you a better price if they think they'll make it back on the financing. Then go home and pay-off the car with the first payment.

    "They're asking $38500"

No, not a good deal. I assume this is a 4x4? A brand new '16 TRD OR 4x4 with P/T/JBL was about 39,000.

W/o knowing the final price they will accept, it's not possible for us to tell if you if it's a good deal or not. You can ask 34, but I doubt you'll get it. My local dealer had a manager demo with 3K miles on it. They deducted a dime off MSRP for every mile. lol

I will tell you one thing. Make sure you scrutinize the truck with a fine tooth combed. I got a '16 service loaner and that thing was pretty beat up.

My dealer took 2K off with just 300 miles because they drove it from another dealer.

Yeah, so they won't budge below $36,500 and they're giving me crap on my trade. I'll wait till the 2017 I want comes in. Screw 'em! I will continue to be envious and buy accessories before I buy the truck.

Best way to stick it to the dealer is to not buy.

I bought my 16 TRDORDC with 3100 miles on it has the all weather mats towing package and stuff that the dealer owner drove back and forth from home to work for 4 weeks for 32,400. 38500 is really high for that truck it seems.

I've been quoted less for a 2017 TRDOR.

Go back to the dealer with your man pants on and tell them SOLD for $35K then walk out.

When they call you back tell them 34.5K for making you fuck around with them.

Please guys, when you post what you paid, you should also mention 2 or 4wd and what packages you have.

A DCSB TRD OR has a price range from 32k to 40k.
