    All,

I need help installing the Moab 2.0 on my 2nd Gen Tacoma. The instructions on CBI's website are horrible. I even have called them several times and always get the answer - you just install it. I have the M8000 winch. I mounted the control panel box to the winch per instructions. Does the bumper not fit if you do this? Im having trouble getting the bumper to line up with the studs to mount - we can't get it high enough. I really like CBI but their instructions are absolutely horrible. For a bolt on/bolt off, I'm not getting it. I've asked my wife to help and she it now pissed off at me. Anyone out there do this? I saw journeyman's instructions, but he did not have the winch issue. Thanks.

    A lot of stuff.
Suggestion, take a break from it, walk away .. it will all start to make sense with a fresh look tomorrow. Make amends with the wife and start again on Saturday ..

I don't think it will work with the seloniod box on the winch. But not 100% sure. I remote mounted my seloniod box under the hood. Fit pretty good. I agree I love cbi. But their instructions if you get any are terrible.

M192 - we got it to fit but then you can't plug in. Did you have to some how extend the cords to get it to mount under the hood When I look at it I just don't see how the cords are long enough to mount under the hood. Wife is cool again. We walked away and third time it slipped right on!!! Just trying to figure out the winch.

Thanks everyone for the guidance! We were able to get the bumper installed. I think the winch will work. I removed the grill and remounted the control panel to the winch. I'm going to need to make a slight notch in the grill so I can plug the controller in. That is the only thing that would prevent it from working right now. If it wasn't for the winch I think the CBI install estimated time would have been pretty accurate. I am working with a '07 Tacoma that has a brand new frame (accident in March that insurance company decided to fix). I JUST got the truck back but the brakes are horrible so it needs to go back in (the shop new that but I took it for the weekend to get the bumper and sliders installed). Guessing it will only be in the shop for a couple days - 4 months w/o the truck has been frustrating, especially in Colorado. Thanks again. Sliders go on tomorrow. These are so new that CBI has no installation instructions, so we'll see.

Did they come out with new sliders? I've had their sliders for about 3 years now. Bolt on. They were a mother f'er to get on. Esp drilling through the frame. If yours are bolt on. Make sure you have sharp drill bits and a good corded electric drill.

They did. They are true bolt on with no drilling required. The way the attach to the frame looks much different. They likely weight a bit more because there is more material as a result of being true bolt on and not drilling. They are supposed to be an easy install...but no instructions, so we'll see. CBI also sends a bag of hardware and said "you won't need a lot of it." So its a game of "chance" on what I actually need and don't need, I guess.

Strike the "no drilling required." I had to drill the sliders in three places on one side and four on the other. They have cut outs for the frame rivets but I found that they missed three on one side, and the break nut on the other side. I'm not sure if this was due to the fact that my frame is brand new and my frame is slightly different or they just missed it. I plan to talk to them Monday because it was quite a pain. They also sent me the wrong hardware for the second time.

Do you have pics of your install? I starting the same project on my 2012, MOAB 2.0 and Bolt-on Sliders.

I do. I did talk to CBI and they have not run into this problem before. They are guessing it is the way Toyota is having new replacement frames built. I used a whole saw drill bit after carefully measuring that was suitable for metal and it cut right through. CBI also sent me good instructions for these new sliders. Is there a way for you to send me your email on this forum (I'm new to this) and I will forward you the instructions and the drill. CBI's customer service is great even if they mess up here and there on hardware AND I'm getting a lot of compliments on the truck.

    I sent you message.

I just finished mounting the winch into the bumper. I was trying to figure out how the stock bumper comes off, I gave up when it got too dark to see without a flashlight. I'll take another crack at it in the morning.

TitusDog What do you think of the skid plates? How thick and heavy are they? After putting on the bumper, I'm realizing just how flimsy the stock skids are, so that might be my next purchase.

I haven't received them yet. I should receive them later this week and will then report back. I've read reviews that they are better than the stock skids. The collision center ordered the factory ones and I told them to return and give me credit because they were so flimsy. However, I will say I had the silver stronger one when I hit the boulder with my truck. It bent but helped the truck go up and over.

I have the full skids. I think they're 3/16". But could be wrong. They are heavy. I just ran my trans skid over to flatten it back out and welded some angle to the upper side of it for some extra strength.

Great looking truck. My build is very similar except I have the silver '07 DCSB. Wish I had the LB. I have the new bolt on sliders that do not require drilling (except I had to drill and talking to CBI, this is only due to something Toyota changed for new frames for older models i.e. just had a frame swap). I have same bumper and winch and am adding front and mid skids for now. When you lifted yours did you have to change out the swaybar links? Mine look very close to the coils even with the relocation bracket supplied by Toy Tec. I took the truck for the first offroad (mostly an old jeep road so I wouldn't be stranded if something fell apart). We definitely found a few things the collision center missed. I had a clanking in the front left and it appears to be the sway bar rubbing on the coil. My mechanic shop is working on the truck Thursday and will take care of anything missed. They do lifts and everything - so a full 4x4 shop but full mechanic shop. Thanks!

When I lifted I ditched the swaybar.

Thanks. Makes sense. I like the onroad handling with it on, so haven't ditched, but I totally get why people do. I'm still surprised one of the main fabricators hasn't made a quick disconnect like they do for Jeeps. I've seen on the forums a few people have made their own, but more challenging with the Tacoma.

A QD for the swaybar would be awesome!
