Hopefully this hasnt already been asked, and if so apologies in advance. I couldnt find anything using the search feature.

Is there a way to disable the air recycle by default on the truck? I enjoy fresh air most of the time, and then when needed use the air recirc.

Just thought id ask, i looked through the settings on the truck, and i am wondering now if it is a mapped feature in the computer that the dealer can alter.

Scott, mine is on recirculate sometimes and other times the vent is on. Don't know what is going on but I find it no big deal to just reach down and push the button for whichever feature I want at the moment.

I believe it defaults to recirc unless it's on the AUTO feature. I stay away from recirc at all if possible, run the risk of building up water in the condenser and getting a mildew smell the vehicle. Trust me, not pleasant

all mods requested by the wife (seriously)
Still goes to recirc on Auto (At least in Cali where it's hot all the time.)
This is one of the few minor annoyances I have. Just resorted to starting the car then pressing it off.

I was getting confused with the air recycle control for the air conditioner in my TRD Offroad. Then I found that if you have the air temp setting turned to max you couldn't switch between recycle and fresh air. Click it off max and it works like you want it to.

    None...yet!
Yea, I'd prefer it default to outside air too... Haven't found a way to get that to happen so I switch it off after a few. Only minor annoying thing so far. Won't be an issue in the winter... UNLESS the heater defaults to recirc too!!!!

Might be a stupid question, but did you try pushing the button to open the fresh air dmpr after setting to max? In my 2013 when I have the temp anywhere below max, when I turn it to max, it closes the fresh air dmpr. I then just push the recirc button and the dmpr opens. I might be missing something here though.

Just the opposite is true. Condensation is from moisture being wrung out of the air during the heat exchange process.

When you recirc, the air gets dryer and dryer, only regaining new humidity via air leaks into the vehicle.

Running on outside air, you continually introduce moisture.

It's why recirc will give cooler temps than outside air. Dryer air is cooler air.

And if the evaporator case where condensation occurs (not the condenser) is kept free of debris, and the drain line doesn't clog, you'll never get a musty smell.

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
I have NOT confirmed this, but I am pretty sure that on mine, if the temp knob is turned fully CCW (to Max AC) then it will always be on re-circ. But if it is not, I think it remembers last setting.

I know on my wife's Honda CRV it will recirc the air based on the temperature outside the car vs inside the car. I used to disable it, however it seems to work quite well the way it is.

This has been asked before, and it can be set to default to fresh air buy the dealer.

While basic knowledge would lead me to concur with you, real world experience has taught me the opposite. Quiet confusing actually as neither Lexus or Toyota have been able to provide a legitimate answer. I've been able to quickly debunk any explanation
