I agree with you, but if something happened on a test drive it might have been reported. I know it's a long shot, but it would be worth a lot if there was a reported accident.

If they damage your vehicle while in there care/service its there obligation to notify the customer. Happened once to a Honda in for repair, we had to fix and repaint the trunk, gave the customer a rental. If it happened before you purchased it now thats another story.

Where I live there is a facility that holds Lexus vehicles after they come in by rail. They are inspected before they are trucked out to dealers over a 7 state wide area. The facility has an on site body/paint shop that repairs these vehicles, some have spray paint on them others have been shot, yes shot while on rail in transit, some are damaged when they come loose off their chocks while in transit.I have heard that if damage is over 7k they send it on to dealer otherwise they fix and send it on.There is a distribution facility like this in Houston that ships Toyotas also.

A friend of mine was taking delivery of his new Rav4 a few weeks ago, while he was standing in the showroom getting ready to leave someone test driving a new Land Cruiser cut the corner and hit his front bumper. They gave him a loaner and repaired it for him. Accidents do happen on the lot too.

I am not sure repairs at these locations would ever be revealed to the vehicle buyer.

No they probably will not disclaim it, but if it happened while they repaired your vehicle its there duty to inform you.

Probably right,I would hate to think my new vehicle could have had several thousands of dollars in repairs before it arrived at the dealer. But if repaired right may not even know.

It almost makes me think it was either damaged and repaired or the factory paint sprayer was screwed up. I'm thinking since it has metal flake, that perhaps the metal flake wasn't thoroughly mixed in the paint before being sprayed on the truck. Either way, I would definitely go to the dealer ASAP, and depending on how they treat you, visit a good bodyshop for a second opinion. Hope this gets resolved for you soon!

My 03 Tacoma had a slight color shade difference between the drivers door and the rear door. Not as noticeable as the OP's. Good luck with it OP.

    How's the grill surround look?
If yours is anything like mine, you'll see it's a factory flaw.
