If they get wholesale prices then its probably a good deal.
Detailing.com's warehouse is like an hour away from my house.

I'm following you bud. Me and a friend started to get into detailing and I have like $400 invested in liquids haha.

Doing it to a brand new vehicle doesn't make sense unless someone improperly washed it to begin with. You see this a lot on cars with softer paint, and dark cars.

That is awesome! Personally, I love to take my truck out in the sticks and use it as intended. It doesn't stay dirty very long though because soon after I wash it, assess scratches, and fix as necessary. Then I do it all over again! You're right that it's a hobby. And it's a good hobby to have when it comes time to trade in or sell. Having a vehicle that's going to look new in 5 years is going to be worth more money

Hey, ... have you guys tried "Hydro Shine"... It's a product made in Texas....
When I bot my truck last Oct. and took it in to have the Corrosion Free applied and sprayed into all the doors/crevices, etc.... it was too cold in the season for ME to wash and wax my new truck.... So, I asked the guy who does the rust protection to do this for me in his shop... He is OCD.. That's why I like him.
Anywhooo... all winter the snow just slid off my truck like I've never seen before, and I always wax the shit out of my truck, especially before winter.... This spring, I go for a little Off Road and get it muddy.... it rained that night and the truck was clean, sitting in the driveway and the dirt was on the driveway....
I called him and asked what he used.... turned out to be "Hydro Shine", a polymer product... He sold me a bottle, but only AFTER showing me how to apply correctly.... I'm totally in love with this product.... Hard to find in Canada.... but available in the US...
    :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I use mainly high end products and belong to communities with top detailers and such and I have NEVER heard of it.
I coated my truck with Optimim Opti-Gloss its a 3 year semi-perm coating. Its not like the dealer BS crap. this is proper stuff that actually will last. Anyone who is in the detailing community will know of optimum and products before it like Opti-coat, and such. Also other products that will give you years of durability not months are Carpro C Quartz, Gthecniq EXO or C1, 22ple and there are more.
This is the beading from my Opti-gloss and I expect it will last this way for the next 2years without having to add any other protection.

here are some other products that are of VERY high quality I have used on past cars
Sonax Polymer net Shield on my previous 12 GT. get about 6months of protection from an application
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCE3ZkXYkv0

This is Gtechniq EXOv2 topped with Sonax polymer I named this video wrong.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vvd0cT8ubeM
    this was bare EXOv2
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmjSMQeN_8M
this will give you about 18months of protection like this

I take my truck to the dealer clean. I find for the most part If you show the service guys you really care they will care too. No one wants to be that guy that Fs up some guys truck. My dealer photographs the exterior of the truck when they take it in. That way they dont get blamed for something they didn't do. It also works against them when they do screw up. Never pick up the truck in the dark and always walk around the truck before you sign off on it.

It wasn't worth my time to argue. Time is money. We just bought the truck, I just wanted to leave and go home after hours at the dealer negotiating.

I spent 8 hours detailing it with a good friend/detailer. Total cost, $100. I'm ok with that. That $100 would have cost me much more in hassle fucking with them to cover it. They would simply decline and offer another detail. Which wasn't going to happen.

Some of us give a fuck and take pride in ownership. Nothing wrong with wanting to detail your car...if you don't, cool, that's your prerogative. But the whole "it's just a truck" is dumb. Ours is a daily driven truck. Every few months or so we like to detail it. When you sell a car, and it's in good condition, people pay for that. Our car we traded in for the Tacoma was well cared for compared to most others and we got a premium for it.

I have no problem with people wanting to detail a truck. It's your truck, your life, do what makes you happy. However, in terms of investment here is another data point. I paid $18,000 for my 2nd gen prerunner in 2008. It lived in the driveway outside (garage is for my wifes car and my motorcycles). Although it was not an offroad vehicle, it was used to haul motorcycles, trash, moving, etc. It was never waxed it, not even once. It was probably washed and vacuumed 5 times in 7 years. I got $15,000 in trade in 2015 and the dealer listed it for $19,000.

I do the same. As soon as I'm back, I know I have to drag out the pressure washer and get the junk off.

And there is the person who got upset about the "it's just a truck" line! First re read what I said..

Did I say anything about not having pride in my truck? Nope, hell I busted my ass to get it and pay it off early! I have had this truck longer than any other vehicle I have owned! I had 3 new Chevys in 6 years (huge waste of money..I'll say I was young and dumb then living in the moment) and I have kept this Tacoma longer than all those combined because I'm damn proud of it!

Did I say you shouldn't get your truck detailed? Nope. I even said my wife and neighbors think I'm crazy for how often I wash /detail my truck. It's 7 years old and looks new still! I understand the value of taking care of my truck.

My whole point about the "it's a truck" was to say I wouldn't be afraid to have the dealership wash it which was the whole question the op asked. It's going to see worse just being driven everyday and I use my truck as one. Hopefully you understand it's all good here and my point I was making!

This. Paranoia over nothing. It's not a fucking lambo. It's not like the dealer is going to peel off the clear coat
