Installed LR UCA's and billies..Toe in BAD!!

Ok. I installed my LR UCA's today (notice I painted them to match the truck ). I also installed my 5100's with OME 885's and toytec spacers. The install went perfect..no fuss..no muss. Now, I definitely have to have my alignment done ASAP!! The tires are toe'd in really bad. That really sucks since there is no way to get it done until Monday. Sorry that the pics are bad, I took them with my cell phone at night by the lovely glow of work lights.

I also did some fiddling with my bumper and flares to try and minimize the damage done when the chicken shit hit me and took off. Wasn't too successful.

 

how hard was the install of the uca......im saving for a set myself.....any special tools needed??

 

Did mine today too. Very easy install, only took an hour and a half for the Light Racing UCA's. I'm also in the same situation on alignment, have to wait until Monday. I already had it lifted so I think my alignment is close as I use my "eyeball" guage.

 

I tried the eyeball as best as I could. But installing both the struts and the UCA's really put it out of whack. I hate to even drive it like this but I don't have any choice. It will definitely go in on Monday.

 

man that is a good setup u should be fine til monday. unless you have a long commute or something.

Its hard to tell from the picture, but I would agree that it appears the UCAs were assembled incorrectly.

 

The UCA's are installed correctly. The gold piece you guys are talking about is how the caster is adjusted. It can be rotated to 8 different settings (spread out evenly over a 360 degree rotation). It looks like he has it set at a +2.0 caster, which is what he needs to correct his alignment.

Yeah you can spin the ball joint in the LCA to change caster. Just depends how much change you need. No change at all has the flat side facing out

 

I got the alignment done today and it took about 2 hours. The Tech couldn't figure out how to work the adjustible ball joints. I had to show him (after providing the directions). Once he got the hang of it, there were no issues. She is in perfect alignment. Although, after going up another 1/2" in lift I am getting a very slight vibration at highway speeds. Nothing really noticeable but she is my girl and I notice everything!!! I really love the look of the LR UCA's, especially after painting them to match the truck. Combined with the new 885's and Billies, she is rockin it out!!!!

Thanks for that link. I have 5100s @ 2.5 & LR UCAs sittin in the garage waitin for my lame ass to throw them on & go get a free alignment. Looks to me that for 2+ caster, (according to the chart in the link), the flat sides should point outward on each side with the ball joint stud pulled back towards rear of truck. Toytec posted that chart, I need + caster back & will be following this chart.

BTW, none of the positions on the chart indicate clocking the rounded side of the locking plate toward the outside,front or rear of the vehicle for any caster setting. If you check out the chart, the only thing changing the caster is how you center the balljoint stud. The flat side points out in every position, which is also what Chris4x4 was saying about it not looking right. If he's skeptical, you might wanna listen up.........Not sure how OP got correct alignment with round side out but cool if so. I however, will be following the chart from Toytec post & Chris4x4's intuitiveness.

 

I will take a pic tonight to show my settings, so ya'll can see how it looks.

 

So when you installed them did you mess with any of the adjustments?

 

No, I set it at "0". Or at least what I believe was zero. then I let the alignment guys do their thing.
