I'd bitch about the Administration Fee and I wouldn't buy a Sport.

They are a car dealership, they are still taking you, no matter what

Ridgeline sucks. Why would I ever leave this forum? Tacoma fanboys are one of the most rabid loyalty this side of the Internet and so nice. Can't wait to get my 17 trd....vibrations and all

...and sketchy fluid levels? Whats bad about the ridgeline? Even if tacos ever became crappy or average trucks it still would be hard for me to drive something else.

Drove both. For one thing the Ridgeline is ugly but it handles incredibly well....too well. Almost like the pilot. I grew up with toyotas and there's something to be said about the steering feel of a Toyota truck/suv. It's an acquired taste and it lets you know you're in a truck not a slapdick suv with the back chopped off

Would you buy a 16-17 Tacoma again, smitty?

I have been PM'd quite often with this same question by others, lately. I mean obviously with my particular truck and the issues I have experienced, it is a no-brainer to say I likely would not have purchased it.

I think if I could go back in time I would wait and see for a 2018. I was hopeful maybe a couple of the issues would have been fixed in the 2017 roll out but after test driving one, I was disappointed they had not even addressed the LCA's or the driveline vibrations. I think Toyota will continue to be slacking on this as long as they are one of the leaders in the mid-sized market and the consumer enables them to do it. Going into buying my 2016 I was resting my trust on Toyota's past reputation as I owned a 1st gen that was nearly flawless and I was excited to get into the new vehicle.

I am hoping in 2018 Ford releases a worthy competitor...though I have my doubts on styling and design but there is a chance. If they do I'll be selling my 2016 Tacoma and moving over. I've also considered the full size market again. The silverados really look sharp and I had no issues with my last GMC Sierra. It was a great truck, it just did not suit my needs quite as well as the midsize truck class. However given the issues I've encountered, I probably should have just stuck with the full size.

I think if you had no other option, needed something NOW for a decent amount of off road use, the Tacoma maybe your best "midsize Truck" option right now. Of course going in educated about some of the issues you could try to be picky about which one you drive off the lot. However I'm skeptical that some of these issues won't surface later down the road (rear differential howling, leaf springs squeaking, CPS censors failing, etc) The driveline vibes should be easy to pick up right away but I have a hunch that MOST, if not ALL, of them have it.

Exactly. Some people are getting pretty good deals on these trucks but keep in mine the prices have gone up and yes the dealership is still taking you no matter what.

Anything over stock HP is going to have drivetrain issues on the RS.

I've heard speculation about that and it will be interesting to see if this is indeed the case. However, I've also heard talk of the same drivetrain being used in the upcoming Fusion Sport (more HP/TQ) and the possible Fusion RS500. That suggests the drivetrain is rated for more power. These questions are definitely the things to watch as the vehicle hits the road and people start pushing the envelope. Time will tell....

Are instances of transmissions overheating linked to the software SNAFUs, or is that the result of something mechanical?

That's a pretty good deal. I'm assuming that this is the OR 4x4 without the premium and technology package. What are the add ons that they're giving you?

I still dont understand why smitty is still here and he never answers me.

Granted, I only have 2000 miles on mine but I absolutely love my truck. The trans hunted for gears a bit during the first 1000 miles but Im pretty positive now that was due to the transmission learn procedure. Otherwise I have zero weird noises or vibrations. My gas mileage was pretty shit between 1000-1500 miles but picked back up again after that. I average around 18 and mostly only see 35-55 mph and stop go traffic during the week.

First off, I came from a 2013 Sti and don't miss it. I've had 3 different Sti's and yes will prolly have another weekend build eventually but i absolutely love driving this truck.
Second- I guarantee it is not discounted because "buzzing/vibration". That's absurd. Yes some people have had issues but many have had zero issues (you just don't hear from satisfied people- that's how business/life works). Don't be scared away by everything you read. I would recommend test driving the truck if possible and if you like it, go for it.

PS- I would double check it's a Technology Package. The Tech Packages run just shy of $40k. That MSRP looks to be Base-TRD OR.

Cobb tuning here has theirs in and are working on it. I'll be keep tabs on it. We have a black one sitting on our showroom floor and its pretty damned sexy (Not $45,000 focus sexy, but still). Honestly if I were back in the market for that type of car again i'd buy what I did the first time. A 2006 Mitsubishi Evo IX SE.

Livernois Motorsports has one as well and they're pretty well-respected when it comes to tuning EcoBoost platforms. I think they have a couple of initial videos posted on YouTube.

The majority have zero or minor issues. What your seeing is the vocal minority.

In fact it's like 3-4 same guys in every thread. 1 in particular everyone knows who I mean. My truck had zero issues. I love driving it. It's a blast.

10K miles on mine, and no issues. I love driving it. I came from a '15 WRX and the Taco is way more fun to drive.

Sorry, the only issue I had was when I changed my tires to K02s and the LCA had a slight whistle sound at 40mph only. But after reading this forum for so long, I knew exactly what it was--went straight to Lowes, got the plugs, and fixed it in the parking lot for $3 bucks.
