Told the dealer yesterday I wanted a TRD Pro in manual. So he took my name off the automatic I was supposed to get next month and gave it to the next guy on the list. He said there wasn't any manual Pros that have been made anywhere yet in the country. He couldn't even generate a fake VIN number or add any options to my order. Thought maybe I might get my truck in November.
One thing I realized that's kinda a bummer as I was looking over the paperwork was that the manual truck loses the Smartkey and push-button start. That's bullshit! I have both those features on my manual WRX and they're one of my favorite things on that car. Really sucks

You can have one built the way you want it. I did and it did take about 3 months but well worth it. Yes on the 6MT there is no push button start. Im old school I prefer to turn a key

Wow, you are right. The M/T does not get proximity key on any of the models. This is something I didn't realize before. I have a 2017 TRDOR M/T on order right now pending build.

I test drove an A/T and mistakenly assumed that was standard across all packages.

HUGE disappointment. My 2013 Focus ST and my wife's Jeep both have it. I am not sure how I feel about living without it..

If the rumors are accurate : 2500 Pro's being manuf and 5% of those are MT's = 125 MT Tacos. There's an estimated 1233 Toyo dealers in the US and my fuzzy math says that's less than 10% of the said dealers will see (1) Pro MT. If I were interested in one of these gems and didn't have a line on one I would broaden my search and get to work finding a dealer that can source one. I worked in allocation many moons ago in a similar space and know some dealers don't even qualify for specialty vehicle allocation just based on poor CSI scores the dealer carries. Translation, a dealer may be telling you somewhat what you want to hear about supposed Pro arriving but may not be feeding you accurate facts.

Also of the supposed 125 MT's we're all aware of the 3 color options available, I wonder if the colors are configured evenly 33% (roughly 41 trucks each color) across the board or will one color be built less than another?........Any input from previous year Pro owners???

I came from a '15 WRX 6MT and giggled really hard at the prospect of the TRD PRO not having a "feature" that Subaru offers since their tech is garbage. My WRX didn't have the HK tech package, and I was under the impression from friends that had it as an option that it wasn't really worth the extra $3,000~, but I left my WRX feeling largely underwhelmed when I compared it to other, older cars that I previously owned.

Comparing a WRX or even an STI transmission (STI is FAR superior to the WRX transmission for those not in the know) to this truck's isn't even fair. That said, they're still garbage compared to a solid German transmission. The "hill assist" feature offered by Subaru should be turned off immediately as well.

I don't really consider most German brands to have good MTs; BMW's is rubbery with no tacility, VW's is just light and floppy. Porsche is quite good, though. I like Honda and GM's sporty 6MTs the best, Mazda has some nice ones as well (although similar to VW in being too easy/light). I'm not a big fan of Subaru's cable-actuated shifters, but I haven't driven an STi.

I think the new Taco 6MT is pretty solid; long throws, but good tactility.

Nope can't build a manual Taco with Smartkey or push-button start even if you wanted to.

This is something I'm greatly concerned about as well. The dealership I'm working with is a pretty big one and it's been around awhile. The inventory manager is very competent as well so I'm hopeful he'll be able to track one down. He said they were promised a total of ten Pro's from Toyota so hopefully one of those is gonna be a manual. I don't see why not, no one else has tried to allocate one from them yet.
Will I kick myself down the road if five months from now I can't get a manual Pro cuz they're just too rare? I doubt it, I'll just order an Off-road manual and save a boatload of money.
The inventory manager said its early in the year and the '17's are just starting to roll out so he's confident he can get one for me.

My inventory manager tracked down three from a 1,000 mile search from Arizona but all three were already sold trucks. Probably the same trucks.
