Yeah if you look at the price that is marked out on the link I posted above, it is lower. I think they pick a price out and put it on the window. If it don't sell they drop a thousand off and try again.

Someone has to pay for all the federal mandates (NHTSA,EPA, etc), fines, and lawsuits.

 

Some people like to build it themselves, some like to negotiate it down (albeit from a high starting point) and finance it all together as a package. Either way, the dealer is the smart one and still makes money.

 

I payed 12k less than that for my wifes 16' Pro with TTL out the door.

 

This is a large, successful dealership. They wouldn't have spent the money and built it if they weren't sure they could sell it. That doesn't mean it is worth the price but they will sell it. Will it see mud holes, rock trails, or the such? Of course not, it's a Limited Leather street queen. They built it for the local target audience.
