Dana 35s?

 

I'm in the same boat brother.

Mine: tacoma/hunting/fishing/golf versus hers: camera/shoes.

 

Aren't they Dana 35 rear and 30 fronts? I'm not hugely into jeeps but though that was what they were. Though I know some you could upgrade to Dana 44s from the factory. The 35 is a meh axle though. OK for stock but for not for bigger tires.

I would love to do a jeep build someday. So easy to do 40s and a bigger motor

 

I had a Cherokee with a 35. It was Def meh... my first and last jeep. Motor was sweet tho....way better then the taco 4.0. My bro was into jeeps. He had a ton of them and now he drives a tacoma.... nuff said lol


I take it back. Once you really beef up the axles and lock them up the jeeps are the shit

 

I did it for a living for about ten years so it's paid for itself more or less. Still crazy expensive tho. I have a D800 with a bunch of Nikkor glass and just got a A7ii with a few pieces of sony glass. Trying to switch over and get used to it, but damn I'm in way over $10k

It does. I have to carry like three of them, but theyre about half the size of a canon/nikon battery so its not too bad. I mean the camera is like half the size of the non-pro DSLRs so its pretty hard to bitch. And it takes amazing photos

Small contrast, color and clarity boosts in Lightroom. Not much

 

Yeah I shoot Canon myself (mostly wildlife and nature/landscape) but I've only got about 6k invested right now since I sold my 500 f4 earlier this year. Hopefully I'll be picking up another supertele next year. The 500 just got too bulky and cumbersome especially on a small boat so I'll be looking for something a bit more compact.

I rented the 400 DO II to get a feel for it and I can't get over how small and light it is.

 

The big guns get pretty pricey. I used to work for a guy that routinely shot the masters and owned a rental house. He had a Nikon 800mm f/5.6 that weighed 10 pounds and cost 16k. It was unbelievable to hold in your hands.

 

This was the setup I was using last year. The little 400 DO II is tiny compared to this but only gives up 100mm in reach. Nikon has their own 300 PF which looks like a nice little lens.

Damn dude, these are OUTSTANDING. I always wanted to get into shooting critters but never could justify the glass.

 

Thanks man. I was thinking of trying to get a group of like-minded people together who want to get out and do some photography oriented trips.

 

I'm down, but i shoot mostly landscapes and astrophotography these days.
