Scheduled for Thursday at Ardmore. Have the 4th gear issue with CC on, the up/downshifting on hilly roads and the Airwolf howl. I'll ask for them to check the fluid level as well. Going on a road trip next week, Myrtle Beach y'all.

Got the TSB done yesterday(2016 SR5 DCSB v6 4x4). Truck feels much better shifting is smooth and not erratic. I can say i am happy with the results :)

even the service advisor told me to let her know how the truck is performing and to give her a report within a week or so. Told me if i was still having issues they will re flash my ECM once again. Very Very helpful as well...on another note i will also be getting the TSB for the howling of in the lower control arms. They didnt have the plugs so they ordered them for me should be here within a week :D

Been a few weeks now and the shifting is still better. I'm starting to feel like it's still a bit under-powered tho in normal drive mode. I find my self still needing to switch to S-mode and manually shift sometimes to get decent stop/go traffic power. Especially when you have impatient drivers all around. I mostly don't care about that, but sometimes it gets to me. S-mode really does reveal the true capability of this engine though, and it can be pretty effin' ballzeee.

As others have mentioned mine seems to get stuck in a low gear now at certain times between 40 and 60, and it continues revving when you completely let off the gas. Sometimes it'll rev like that for up to 10 seconds if you just try to coast along. Seems to happen sometime as you go over the crest of a hill. You are accelerating up the hill, then let off the gas as you approach the top, and it continues to rev as you go over the top and try coasting down the other side. The revving impedes on the coasting as it stresses the engine. Kind of like gear breaking. Not sure how this can be helpful for EPA numbers? You can't always break out of the cycle by stepping on gas, but switching to nuetral or S-mode seems to work. I was happy enough with the new shifting solution that I kind of overlooked this, but now it's becoming the next "glaring" thing.

At the dealership now for the TSB flash. Obligatory two hour wait.... My only symptom is delayed up shift in cc after cresting hills. Service advisor didn't know whether test drive would be necessary. He said "half dozen" Tacomas have been in for TSB (large dealership in Denver area.) Hoping for an improved driving experience; placebo or otherwise:)

Just had the tsb done. I was there from 8:30-11:30. I also had the 10k mile service done and had them fix my rear sliding window. Drove about 30 miles home from dealer mixed city and highway. Noticeable difference, placebo or not. On the highway, cruise control is like it is on my other cars. Merging onto highway and starting from stoplights I noticed it was easier since it didnt upshift too soon. There was a slight difference in how it shifted from P-r and r-d. We will see

Appt scheduled for Friday @ 8:30am. So glad I looked here. This truck has been amazing except for this transmission issue. Thought I was nuts. Guess not.

got mine done today, and feels better, although I had the P/R/D delay pretty bad the other 'hunting' and upshifting issues weren't as bad. Also had T-SB-0053-16 done at the same time. Steet in Yorkville, NY took care of both no questions asked, although it's the first they had heard of the howling.

Sorry, I couldn't go through all 76 pages, but for someone who hasn't been having problems with their transmission, would it still be recommended to get the TSB.

it's just me, but i'd get anything done under warranty for free that i could get done. the transmission thing is software, not hardware. it's not a matter of IF you'll see the bug, it's a matter of when.

Tried to get this done today for the hesitation and holding a gear too long. No luck. I suggest avoiding Vancouver Toyota for anyone in the Vancouver/Portland area. They asked to have the truck to prove it was an issue, I didn't mind that but the issue with reverse/drive usually only happens on the first drive. They suggested leaving it, but that's not really an option for me. What I didn't like is their usual condescending attitude and word choice followed by "we wish we could perform the TSB, but we cant" and then the two techs fist bumped each other. o_O

Honestly being a mechanic myself I cant stand condescending techs telling me "how it is". Guess I'll have to try elsewhere.

So much better! After getting the flash this morning headed out for a drive (retired guy getting out of the house.) I was enjoying the ride so much I did 150 miles (in the mountains.)
    My observations:
    1) noticeably quieter at idle (500 rpm)
    2) dead pedal gone
    3) no longer downshifting 2 gears to accelerate; held gears much better with MUCH LESS SHIFTING
    4) shifting much more precise/predictable
    5) downshifting in S mode is more responsive, i.e., no more lag in engine braking
    6) ECT gets up and goes if you get on it
    7) thought mileage would suffer; it did not
    8) so much more fun to drive:)

Thank you TW members for posting re this TSB.

Here's a Colorado speed bump on my route today...

Had mine updated a month ago, stomped on the gas from a stop a couple days ago, nothing, I mean nothing, had I been trying to get out of the way of an oncoming vehicle I would have been toast. It holds gears longer and the P to D delay is gone as well as R to D but I still hate this transmission. Oh and I had to call a buddy with a Dodge Cummins Diesel yesterday to pull me out of the hole I dug pulling my PWC out of the lake, too steep and too soft so I'm also asking myself why the hell didn't I buy a 4WD.....Dodge.

I had my 10k service done yesterday and brought them a copy of my TSB. Amazing difference. My only complaint I had about my Tacoma was the lag it took to get going once my foot was on the pedal. I usually found it to accelerate nicely around 4k rpm, but never liked revving it that high. I'm now noticing it has great power between 2 and 3 k rpm. Just what I wanted. My truck was made in January in B.C. Hope this helps.

Post Script, I love my Tacoma!

I've driven mine for about 80 miles after the TSB was done it shifts smooth almost to the point where u can barely feel them going into gear. Mine had a erratic shift point between 2nd and 3rd that issue is completely gone, has somewhat better acceleration than before (I'm on 275/70/17 k02s, lift and 17x9 wheels) so the truck is still a bit heavier than stock. But acceleration does feel better. No hard shifting at all. Overall happy with the results of the TSB

I had mine done two weeks ago. After driving several hundred miles it definetly has more power and less shifting. My R to D slip is gone but I have a notiable decline in gas mileage.

I have a 60 mile commute and was getting a consistent 21 to 22 mpg before tsb. Adter tsb I am down to 19 to 20. I would rather have the decreased gas mileage than the tranny issues so overal I M pleased with the update.
