I have gone through 2 rear diffs on my truck... mainly because of the power I put to the ground. Its is a 04 taco trd off road furthermore when the power transfers from one tire to the other I tend to break the ring and pinion gears... I think a lsd woud help me, can I take the locker out and install a lsd or do I have to replace the whole axle??? I was searching for someone who make a drop in 3rd member with a solid diff no luck yet. Does any one have the same prob or could shine some light for me....thanks

Are you using the diff lock on the road with a lot of throttle?

I think you need to get a cryo'd set of gears (they freeze them and it makes the metal stronger)

Yes I have been thinking of a hole new rear end but my pride would never let me put a ford part on my baby now chevy would be fine even though the ford 9in rear end is stong as hell I'm kinda looking toward a drop in 3rd member or a way to rebuild mine and yes I will be getting those hardened gears but I'm still thinking I need a lsd or a drop in mechanical that will actually drop in. I'm willing to write off my locker.......

I'll take that locker off your hands if it'll just be burning a hole in the corner of your garage.

I bet a Ford 8.8" with a LSD and some nice axles (31 or 33 spline) would fix your issues. They are stock in a lot of Rangers/Explorers(older ones). not to mention the Mustangs.
