So, I'm sitting in the dealership now getting my 5,000 mile service. Hoping they perform the transmission TSB as well. I showed it to the service tech I was speaking to and it seemed like she kept looking for excuses to not do it. She said it was only valild for Tacomas built in February 2016 or sooner. I was friendly as I'd rather keep a good relationship with the people who fix my truck.

Anyway, someone clearly more senior than her walks in and she asks him about the TSB not being valid for my vehicle and he says that the TSB is valid for all 2016 V6 Tacomas and then he goes on to say that the low fluid issue is only valid for Tacomas built in February 2016 or prior. So, if what he is saying is true, it would appear that Toyota became aware of the low fluid issue and resolved it on trucks being built starting sometime in Feb/March 2016. I have no reason to doubt that's the case.

Anyway, the senior guy was really helpful and asked me if I was having the issues on the TSB. I told him I was having the upshift delay in cruise and he said, "Oh, that TSB should definitely help you then," and he walked away. Then the service writer starts helping me again and she's like, "they'll have to test drive it and duplicate the issue in order for them to perform it". Fuckin' A! They better do it or they just lost a customer! Why even waste the time test driving it.. it takes like 15 minutes just to do it!

I guess I didn't have to worry about the transmission fluid issue because my transfer case started leaking at 1,000 miles and I had to have the gasket replaced....which required them to refill the transmission.

    None...yet!
She's an idiot. I would have said "how do you know they have to test drive it, when 10 minutes ago you never even heard about the TSB?" Then I would have left and come back later and talked to someone else.

They did the TSB and she apologized for the confusion.

Only 1 2017 on the lot. I sneaked a peak at that awesome Frankenstein'd window button. Hilarious!

    No Pros on the lot.

Totally agree. Finding a good dealership or service agent is like finding a unicorn. If you find one, like the OP not causing a scene, you stay. If not, hoof it.

Service is becoming an extinct animal, some argue completely dead.

Good job OP. Hope that fixes your issue(s).

I'm in the same boat, can't get the dealers here to perform the trans tsb or even the lower control arm tsb! I mean it's a tsb not a parts warranty that the dealer needs to send back to Toyota. Just update the software, flag your hour to get paid and be done with it. Unfortunately in my area there's very few choices for dealers so I'm likely going out of state to get these done
