First off, the 2016 Tacoma is awesome, a sweet upgrade from my 2007. Anyways, last week I was driving and my truck and it just died while going 40 mph on a side street coming up to a light in the far left lane. Was stuck in the turn lane and it would not start. The center display stated "Automatic transmission fluid overheat". My truck would not start back up. I called the closest dealership which was about 3 miles away and they sent a wrecker to pick me up, I was picked up within 20 minutes from an outside towing company, fast and friendly. I get there about 1:40, at about 3:45 the service advisor comes out and said that the tech said I have bad gas, I thought that weird, I'm at 1/4 tank and if I had bad gas something would have happened a lot sooner, plus why the AT readout on my display for an overheat? He said it would be a full 4 hours to do a total diagnostic on it and that I could either go put new gas in it or wait till the next day to run a full diognostic. I asked why the AT overheat, he said he forgot to put that on the ticket and went back to ask the tech. So, at 5 he comes back out and says that the truck died on them as well and there were code reading that they never saw before and would have to contact Toyota in the morning. Going to make this part short, Toyota said that the crankshaft sensor was bad, that they know they are bad and have replacements for them. I was upset that Toyota knew of a problem that would cause total vehicle failure but has yet to release a recall. The miles on my truck that this happened were 10,450. Just want to waned everyone, I hope they do a recall before something bad happens.

Would not be surprised if this ends up being a recall/tsb. Especially its if known to be defective, seems like toyota has to work on its QDR with some of its suppliers (rear diff, cps and transmission Aisin).

TSBs are nothing special, manufacturers put them out every day. But I doubt it will ever be a recall

Okay and your point? If enough fail, they will recall, too soon to tell still.

No they won't. I've seen repeat failures on cars that i replace the same part 10-15 times per week. No recall.

    Recall is safety only

You don't work for Toyota, GM isn't the same as Toyota, shit GM lets people die before they admit anything and so did Ford of old. CPS failures as some have had on the highway sure as hell could be safety, if enough happen they will, Toyota will protect their image, but I'm betting there aren't a lot, some here, but seeing guys with 10k+ no issues, in that case no recall.
