Install the thing and figure out where the cable should bend to make it fit. Crimp with pliers to make a permanent bend. Can use zip ties to force it to bend there for a while.

You notice the powder coat on the cap? I'm surprised it's held up that well.

The ez down is somewhere around 18 months old. Still works. Crimp the cable and kinda "train" the cable to go where it needs to. It'll be fine in no time

Hey thankyou Phil! Gives me something to think about....
The Cap will be fine for as long as I own the truck.
The cargo basket already has some rust after a trip to Georgia with coolers in it.
They rubbed some small areas of the powder coat off.
Rust is common in Salt air so I'll have to touch that up.
I'll problbably give the EZ Down a try. Good to hear a success story.

Rust is common here too lol. Salted road eat the fuck out of a truck. If you don't like the ez down, let me know. I'll buy if from you. The rusted cylinder is driving me nuts now that I noticed it. Lol. Paint isn't going to save super thin metal for long
