Get what you like to drive. Both choices here are solid.

Exactly, moral of the story : It's a Toyota. My father has a 4runner 2012 with 120,000 miles. Never had ONE issue.

I had a 2007 Toyota Tacoma with 220,000 miles. Had rust issues. Other than that solid truck.

If the deal on the 4runner is as good as the Tacoma, I am switching the deposit over to the 4runner. If not, I'll stick with the Tacoma. At least I have options; they are drooling on my trade in.

That's what your deal looks like to me. They have someone lined up looking for that car. I'll bet it never hits the lot.

Oh I agree. They own a Subaru Dealership too. So they know the rarity and demand of the car. That is why I am able to swindle such insane deals right now. IF the Numbers look good on that 4runner; ill be driving a true Japanese truck within the month !

This is all true. But an informed decision is better than going in blind. Yes, the vocal minority are loud but car forums are the best source of honest reviews and Problems. I know I am incredibly OCD about my cars. How would op feel if he traded in his sweet sti for a tocoma that is in the minority for problems. Honestly, we shouldn't have to roll the dice on a brand new 35k+ truck. I want one bad but this is holding me back

Exactly. It seems like a risk buying the 2016 / 2017 Tacoma. I don't really need a bed, but I would prefer one on a vehicle. The 4runner has plenty of space to transport items, has a strong engine, best resale in it's class. Hence why I am waiting on my salesman to make the deal with the 4runner :).

My STI has had no issues, and will most likely never have any. Solid car. Why spend 37k on a truck that is potentially known to have really annoying issues ? Just food for thought. Regardless, I am getting a Toyota. So there should be 0 dislike in that decision.

I just picked up a 2017 TRD OR 4x4 DBCB on 8/11/16. I haven't had time to put 500 miles yet but so far haven't noticed any issues. Now howling or vibrations. The transmission is learning my driving and everyday its getting smoother and better. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I may have gone with 4runner but it was out of my price range... Love the looks of both. I will say i agree with what others have said and would recommend driving both and making a decision after that. Best of luck and I don't see why you wont be happy with either. Good luck tomorrow!

Tell you what. I'll trade you my 15 4Runner Trail Premium in red, with Baja Rack, FN f(x) wheels, 5100s all around with Toytec 620lb coils up front and 1" CCS springs in the back...

    For your STI.

mats, flaps, and stickers. Extang solid fold 2.0. Mobtown sliders and full skids. AVS vents
Just wanted to add, my '16 is pretty solid. None of the vibrations, trans level was fine, transmission does the r-D delay occasionally, but there is a fix for that. It had the stupid whistle, but $3 fixed that. I am very pleased with the truck.

Test drive the truck, and go from there. If issues are present, go for the t4r, or make them give you an extended warranty since you seem to have the upper hand.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
