I named my hammer. What's wrong with that.
I do agree though. OP was justified to be upset about getting hit. If they do total it out for you, be happy not upset. You can get a new truck and not have to worry about repairs or repairs that weren't done.

Hey guys, would these tires/rims fit my truck?

    Set of 4 - Toyota 4runner or Tacoma 4x4 wheels 17 x 7.5

I'm trying to keep my tires so just need to replace them with something that can be safely towed

Mine is/was a 2009 access cab, v6, trd off road

Yes. Those are likely the stock TRD Sport wheels. They were used on Tacomas and 4Runners for several years.

But these would be better: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...in-black-or-gray.432659/page-13#post-12874895

When my wife totaled her car we were allowed to remove ANYTHING we wanted off it. This included rims and tires (we did take those, among other things) Left it sitting on blocks.

I love Tacomas but its sad these great trucks have frames made of paper-mâché. Honestly that should not bend the frame.

Shok Industries 2/0 big 4 upgrade and sound deadener.
Crumple zone+amplifying the force with the leverage on the tongue. I'm not sure many other trucks would do better in the same situation, definitely seen multiple Tacomas on here that have been totaled from the hitch bending down like that from a rear ender.

Crumple zone, leverage forward and down and then wouldn't the jack knife action have contributed additional force and leverage down and under until the forward momentum of the trailer was stopped? I would have liked to have seen what happened in slow mo. Very interesting.

Still not officially declared "dead" yet. No decision. Now that I've let it go.

Also, names... Hey vehicles are man's modern day horses and men and women name their horses. She kept me safe from km #1 until her last. I was proud to own her and she deserved respect. For that she got a name and I would never apologize for that. A vehicle is a bit more important than a chainsaw, sorry man!-

Fair enough. Your logic is irrefutable. I'm not a vehicle namer, but I can see your point for sure.

However my assertion still stands, go ahead and love your vehicle but be prepared to detach (as you have) and replace the broken tool when it obviously needs it.

Incidentally, when I sold the one vehicle that I wax nostalgic for, my beloved '97 T100 it went to Flagstaff, AZ. Guy from down there looked all over the west for a T100 and found mine. The other day I was riding my bike in my little town and... there was a white T100. With Snugtop. Hood protector fairing. I roll past it and look at the back--I had epoxyed an HP product badge from an oscilloscope to the hatch and there it was. My truck!

The owner was sitting in the drivers seat (I never met him, his sister picked up the truck when I sold it). We talked for 10 minutes. I sold it at 160K miles (mistake!) and he was over 260 with no problems. It was nice to know that she's still out there rolling, doing her job. (Yeah her. I don't know what's come over me.)

This cracks me up almost as much as "baby on board" stickers. How about "we all want to live so always drive like your life depends on it"?

    edit: relevant: http://www.cc.com/video-clips/bejiq3/stand-up-brian-regan--show-horses

I knew that idea crept into my brain from somewhere

Will check out that video later but I don't think the quote you included there was meant to be compared to that baby on board sign. :) If my truck and trailer sustained over $30000 in damages I'm thinking my horse would not have survived. So thank god she was not with me.

That baby on board sign bothers me. I consider it insulting personally because I respect all life the same and I would not change the way I drive one way or the other. I try to tell myself it's the other driver's excuse for driving like grandma and can usually avoid pulling my hair out.

Well my truck was officially written off, I received my settlement today and bought myself another Taco! :)

This one is also an '09, sans off-road package but half the kms mine had.

New adventures and a new name
