This is what I've realized too after doing a little more research. Sucks

    Mostly stuff I built.
Nothing wrong with the non jbl radio that comes in them. The tech package much like the crawl control is just a gimmick.

Here is my TRD OR. Had to special order it because I live in the southeast region. Took like 3 months but well worth it.

    Very nice congratulations. Initial impression?

I'm on the fence myself in that I really want a manual Access Cab in any configuration other than Sport, which as we know is the only one Toyota offers in the US. So it's between TRD OR AC auto (in which case I may as well look at GM twins as well) or DC short bed manual like yours. I'm really having difficulty trying to make a decision which of my two "must haves" I must do without.

If a manual trans is a 'must have' like it is in my book, then I wouldn't settle for an auto. Life is too short and I do too much driving to not enjoy myself while I'm doing it, and we all know how much more fun it is to drive stick :burnrubber:

I love it. I tested my exact truck but auto. After about 3 minutes I said, I gotta have the 3 pedal option. I've had bad luck in the past with autos plus your less involved with an auto.

I've gone back and forth on the DCSB manual versus AC OR auto. I want the standard bed, want the Access Cab, hate the sport, and have to have the manual.

Problem with the DCSB is that the bed space isn't usable. Can't sleep in it. Can't put a couch in it. Difficult to put bikes into it (but not impossible). Can't go chop down a decent Christmas tree and haul in back to town.

I just can't get behind the idea of the DCSB. God knows I've tried.

I feel the same way, waited a year hoping Toyota would offer a 6' bed AC in anything other than Sport. Hell they build the truck we want in Texas sell it in Canada, but not in the US. I even considered buying the truck in Canada but don't want the hassle.
So I've been going round and round trying to decide what important feature to do without bed size or manual and finally made the decision, I'm not doing without either. I'm keeping my 4wd, Tundra AC, manual. Toyota lost one sale not that it bothers them.

Good luck with your new truck if I had to choose I probably would order what you did.

M16...pluses,minuses, personal preference on both sides of this issue. For me, rather be driving manual any day over an automatic regardless of SB vs. LB. I used to have a 6' in my '94 Access & '84 Chevy S-10 (both mts), which were easier for hauling, sleeping in, etc. In many circumstances appreciated that extra 2' length, definite plus.
However, it's easier with SB to parallel park in town and more versatile & fun maneuvering off-road. I've learned to live accordingly with the SB, but perhaps with more thought & strategy...

I don't see them ever making a Tundra manual again but regardless the current Tundra is simply too large for me.
I wouldn't be surprised if manuals go away in all vehicles pretty soon. I heard that collision avoidance braking may be mandatory around 2021.

Everyone has their own priorities and needs. For many rear seating is more important than bed size. In my case it's the opposite, I'm usually by myself or sometimes with the wife so two seats are all I need. In fact the first thing I did was remove the back seats.

Anyway I'll still lurk here on occasion and you never know maybe Toyota will offer the manual in a AC (other than Sport) some day in the US?
Meanwhile I'm having the timing belt changed due to age along with the other belts and hoses, new tires, then give it a good detail and run it another dozen years or until I find a truck I really want.

How's the shifting on the 3rd gen MT's? Still mildly clunky and slow or is it more slick like a car MT?

Much less clunky than my 99 Ram 1500 or 97 F150, not as slick as my recent Outback Turbo.
