    Evening fellas!

The girlfriend and I switched cars today and she had a little mishap and gave someone in front of her a bumper tap. It luckily didn't do any damage to the other car but did enough damage to lodge the front bumper trim out of place (the plastic trim behind the license plate bracket). It won't snap in because some of the clips were broken during impact. Looked up a new price and it is a fairly inexpensive part. My question, does anyone have any experience in removing the bumper of the 2016 model? Can the trim come off by snapping the clips off or does the whole bumper need to come off in order to replace the trim. I'd figure I would attempt to do it myself and save myself a possible hefty service charge from the dealership.

I damaged that same trim piece, can you get it in the color of your truck or do you have to get it painted

For the Sport, they give you one that you will need to have painted the same color as your truck. For the OR, they give it to you as is when you first got your truck.

    It's very easy.

    - remove grill, it's 2 10mm bolts, and 2 clips, and the grill pops right out.
    - next, there are 2 plastic shrouds near each headlight. They remove with 1 clip each.
    - Look down, and you'll see a blue plastic clip on each side of the lower valance, remove those.
    - then, start unclipping the valance from inside, don't just start yanking on it!

Honestly, it's much easier than it looks.

The whole bumper does not need to come off, but there are 2 blue clips holding the trim on and also the tabs need to be massaged out from the inside.

I know what I wrote above may not make a lot of sense, but once you start working on the truck, it will make sense.

I've done it a few times and it only takes like 5 minutes to remove that bumper trim now.

Toyota sells them painted. I've been thinking of getting a spare since mine has a some minor chips from road debris.

Interesting. Not the one I bought it from. Good thing I didn't need the one for the Sport.

to clarify, Toyota sells the regular unpainted matte OR version (I actually bought one)

And a painted version for all the available colors. The OR version is like $100, and the painted ones are $200.

It's very simple. I started to peel back from where the opening was and the clips just clip right out. However, you may need to go below your bumper and reach your hand up in there to unclip the two little blue clips from the tabs. Mine was damaged enough to where most of the clips were already broken.

Just wondering since I haven't pulled the grille out yet to look but do you think my behind the grill led light bar will be in the way? Will I have to remove that too to get to these clips? My light bar is in the pic below.

No, doesn't look like your light bar will be in the way. All you need to do is remove those 2 blue tabs from behind the bumper trim. You can see it once you remove the grill and the 2 shrouds on the sides of the radiator.

I have the led bar and had to remove my bumper trim. It wont be impossible but definately makes it 1k times harder to have the led bar. Btw the blue tabs are a PITA

They are super easy to get to if you remove the 2 plastic shrouds on the sides of the radiator.

Are we sure about this??? I just left the dealer and they said for my SPORT that I would have to get painted. They also lamented that matching the paint (Inferno) might not be easy - would have to blend..... quoted $325.00 for the whole job. Please advise.

Yes, but apparently not available painted for inferno, but available for all the other colors.
