Ok question for you guys whats the benefit of doing a shackle flip?

Not quite the answer I was looking for. Is there an actual benefit of doing it or basically just for show

 

Supposedly it gives you more droop. Personally I have never seen any measurements before and after a shackle flip. Most flips lift the rear 3/4" to 1" with the stock shackle. I surmise the added droop actually comes from this.

 

From a mechanical standpoint, I see no actual difference between the two mounting methods as they both will move depending on the action of the leaf springs. The only reason leaf sprung vehicles use shackles is so there is something in place that allows the movent of the rear spring eye as the spring arches or flattens through it cycle.

 

Before and after. Stock shackle stock springs. Only difference is the flip and shocks. With different springs and some adjusting and tinkering if been able to get a good amount more out of it.

I am half tempted to set up my Dakars and take measurements, then do a shackle flip and remeasure. See if the actual travel numbers change, or stay the same but just move lower

 

Whose flip kit is that? That is a few inches of lift. But you did say stock shackle.
