    The only issue I see with this one is that the force of a hit still goes into that paper thin dif cover, instead of the body of the axle housing.

    It's certainly a hell of a lot better than nothing, but I don't think in the same realm as a full dif diaper.

    Before you buy one like that you make some decisions around if you are going to truss your rear axle. All of those bolt on / clamp on diff guards will be useless with a top or back truss...ask me how I know :)

    Had one on order when we started building the ass end of my truck, started welding the truss bits on and said ruh roh raggy that ain't gonna fit no more. Luckily it had like a 4-6 week lead time so when I realized it I called them up and they let me cancel the order.

    Well crapzilla. Might have to cancel mine as well. I've been staring at this Ford 9" in the garage for a while, debating if I wanna run it or not. It's gonna cost me a couple grand to get a diff for it with a locker, and then retrofit all the FJ disc brakes on it and figure out the brake proportioning shit. Ugh.

    Hey guys. I got my front setup in last week without too much trouble and I am putting on the rear today. Does anybody have any experience with the all pro standard springs? I got one of my old leafs out and I just went to install the shackle on the new spring and there is a lot of play between the bushings and the shackle, and from the bolt going through the bushing as well. Is some play normal/expected? I haven't tightened the shackle down yet, not sure if that will help with the first issue.

    Any help is appreciated, the truck is my daily so I'd like to have it off the stands as soon as I can.

    The play between the bolt and the sleeve doesn't seem to be too far out of the ordinary compared to the stock bushing sleeves. Now I'm just wondering if I should hunt down some washers to kill the play between the spring bushings (too narrow?) and the shackle .

    I just did the install a few weeks ago.. I had a little bit of play but as soon as I tightened up the bolt it went away.. Haven't had any issues so far

    Got a question for y'all that's been bouncing around in my head for a while. I think I read in this thread somewhere that spring rate will affect lift more than spring length. For example, a 13" 650# spring will give the same lift as a 14" 650# spring. Is this correct?

    I'm not to sure about them being the same spring rate and different length.. But a 600# and a 650# of the same length should in theory give you different heights.. Since the 650# is a heavier spring rate it will compress less then the 600# and give you a bit more height

    Spring rate is spring rate. It's a constant and the only thing (paired with preload) in the coilover that determines ride height. If you had one 13" spring and one 14" spring on each side of the truck with the preload collar snugged down to the point where there was no loose play in the coil, and zero preload, they would provide the same amount of lift (assuming 50/50 weight distribution left to right).

    Ok so this leads me to the second part of my question. OME offers the 885 and 887 spring. Both are the same spring rate, but the 887 is 1/2" longer. On the OME thread it is constantly recommended to people to run the 887 to achieve a full 3" lift compared to the 885 which is said to give 2.5". If spring rate determines lift, is there a bunch of mis-information being spread?

    Different beasts. With OME/Bilstein, you have to preload the coils on the shock in order to put the top plate on the coilover assembly. The extended shock top stem is a fixed length. Meaning if you have a 1/2" longer spring, you have to preload the 887 spring 1/2" more than you would the 885. More preload = more lift.

    With coilovers like king, fox, ads, icon, you have a threaded collar on the shock body to allow for different length springs and different amount of preload.
