My new Tacoma is being broken in and fast..

It's too high for some people i guess and when they are entering, they are scratching up the plastic foot well / side sill area.. You know, that plastic part where your foot rests?

And it's not just regular scratches, they're deep scratches.. ugh. I have the side sill protector that came with the car, but i'm looking to see what some options are to protect the plastic part?

I'm looking into getting some running boards to help with this, but it's soo pricey..

    lol.. good alternative..

meh, i'll just deal with it and just assume it's part of the 'wear and tear' item.. but of course, i'll still look for a deal on a oem running board to help out.

    thanks for your input.

I know what you mean. Most of my passengers, including my wife, insist on trying to sit on the seat without climbing up first and then sliding out when getting out of the truck. I even have nerf bar steps. I keep telling my wife you need to use the step. People are just used to sitting 6" off the ground in cars I guess. I actually think it would be more difficult for an older person or someone with back problems to get "down" into a car than to climb up into a truck. But that's just me.

But, with a 6" lift, that front seat is just about the right level for her to lean forward on....

My dad has pretty bad back problems. It seems he has a harder time gettin in to the truck than our car. The best for him is a crossover, he drives a Ford EDGE and never complains about getting in or out.

Nerf bars make it harder to get in, not easier.

I know what you mean. And what is with the dealership mechanics or oil change people that seemingly always get that part dirty? Its as if its their mission to rub some sort of grease on that part of my truck. Pick up your f-ing feet people.

I got mine back and the were nice enough to put down a paper cover. But it was crumpled up in the corner and the floor mat was filthy. Now I have a coupon for a free detailing.

I know what you mean OP since I took off my Running Boards my mom can barely get in.

Thank god I'm not the only one with this issue. My girlfriend is putting mine through hell. I cleaned the dirt off the first week, but when she came home from school for 3-4 weeks, I couldn't believe how bad they looked. It was insane. I always have to ask her to please take care of the truck, so it will last me the full 7 years it has a warranty for.

    DUI much?

Eh, I don't have much of a problem with it... then again I don't really care about the bottom plastics. It's a truck, it gets used... meh.

As someone who had 15 years of lower back problems and had surgery in '05, this is very true. After many years of owning trucks, I bought my first car in a long time after the surgery, an '05 Altima 3.5SE, because I knew I could get in and out of one finally. Of course, 28 months later I traded it for the Tacoma. Trucks are in my blood, apparently.
