I've read a few threads now where people are asking whether or not a second gen Tacoma will turn into a rattle trap with time and mileage. I figured the best way to find out was to simply ask.

How many miles do you have on your Tacoma and does it still feel as tight as new? If has become a rattle trap, please let us the truck age and mileage when you started to notice the change.

    Thanks!

08 and 24k iirc and no rattling on the road. Off road on bumpy as trails is a different story though. Although much of the rattling is probably from my stuff in the glove box and bed box.

I have 240K km's (~159K miles-ish) on my 05. I had to tighten the top hinge on the drivers' access cab door as 2 of the 3 bolts had backed off by themselves and the door rattled like nuts. All good since they've been tightened down.

My box rattles some bad though. I think I've narrowed it down to the sliding box divider in the bed (not sure if it's a Toyota option as I just bought the truck in August) and the fender liners of the box. I must be missing clips for the liners as they seem really loose and move around alot. Don't really notice the liners when I'm driving with the windows up but can really hear it with them down, the box divider I can hear windows up or down if the road's bumpy. It's embarrassing as I'm sure it makes my truck sound like a rattle can to bystanders which drives me nuts. First thing I'll be fixing come spring.

Bit of a dash rattle too, but sounds like alot of people get that early in the truck's life and mine's not excessive, just annoying. I just turn up the stereo louder to fix that for now.

Well, let's see... after I fixed the buzz behind the glove box, re-balanced and lubricated the bearing in the blower assembly and snugged down a fastening clip on the right-front fender things are pretty quiet now. I have 14k miles... that's a lot of buzzes and creaks for a new truck, IMO. We'll see how it is at 100k.

What does handling have to do with rattles and other noises?

Dude its a toyota. The only rattle you might here is when the engine falls out the bottom. Unless you are in a Mariachi Band and carry Moracas with you.

Almost 14k here and solid as far as no rattles. But wind noise is a different issue.

only 2 tiny rattles on mine at 46k.

The little compartment for your garage door opener rattles at low revs, so I just put a folded up piece of paper in the space and it fixed it 100% and there is nothing visible.

The shifter boot (wtf!) on mine sometimes rattles/creeks. I only notice it on long road trips when I'm taking a break from the tunes. comes and goes also.

sirius satilite radio, more on the way when i get more money. oh ya removed the secondary filter
It depends on how you drive it. mine has rattles because i had a friend rewire my sirius radio while i was at work. needless to say its my fault i wasnt there to supervise. but eventulally stuff will wear out over time with abuse. remember take care of the truck an it will take care of you

I have around 22k on my 2007 give or take a couple miles I took to the store right now. Nothing rattles, sometimes I feel like a window is open though (I checked, all closed) when the radio isn't on and it's just me listening to the truck in general.

88k feels pretty tight no real rattles, except the one behind the glovebox.
the bed creaks a little but can only hear it with the windows down.
there is the issue with wind noise, but thats a different story.

all these were problems when I got the truck used, but there hasnt been any new rattles/squeeks/etc..
