Has anyone ever heard this sub????

WHEN I UPGRADED MY HU AND SPEAKERS I AM STILL LACKING A SUB,THE INSTALLER SUGGESTED THIS WOOFER .HE STATED IT HITS LIKE A GOOD 8" AND ALSO STATED HE COULD FIT IT IN THE CENTER CONSOLE FACING THE REAR.HE WAS GOING TO BUILD A BOX AND PUT ONE IN THE SHOWROOM SO I COULD HEAR IT,ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIANCE WITH THIS SUB???I FORGOT TO MENTION ITS ONLY A 6 1/2 SUB BUT THE MAGNETS HUGE.

 

JL is a very well known and quality company. The 10" version of that hits 300w, so since it's maxed out at 125w (which is pretty much a Bazooka 8" subwoofer), this may be how it will sound

get these instead, you can hook up two of these to a 4 ohm load into a mono block amp.

they do 140w @ 8 ohms.

 

^I would not recommend the above speaker because it's a midbass driver; not a sub.

But, from the same website (partsexpress is awesome) I give you the Tang Band 6.5" sub. Very potent and extremely reasonable in terms of price! I ran 4 of them in my IS300 before my Tacoma. I liked them so much I'll be doing it in the Tacoma as well.

sorry about that. what's the name of that song in the first video? also, how much are you putting out to the four 6.5"s? I saw it said 50w rms, curious as to how only two of them would sound.

Also box specs. Straight sealed? Vented anywhere? I have seen some of your vids, well the first and the third one when I was looking up Tang Band, that one vid where it's flexing mad is nuts, although the comments on it were odd (no PE doesn't have that model anymore, yes they do, it's not the same one, etc.).

 

The song playing is Brand New Colony by the Postal Service. That box is 1 cube sealed. They do VERY well ported and I'd highly recommend it. I did end up making a ported version of the box right before I sold the car. I never got to hear it though. I sold the car before I finished it and sold the box to another IS300 forum member. He was really pleased with it.

 

I love JL stuff. They make some of the best stuff out there. Granted it's only a 6" sub so I wouldn't expect deep sounding bass. But still can never go wrong with JL

 

sweet, I want to use 2 of those TB's in the center console of my Taco. I'm more concealing everything in the truck so that all you see is just a new hu and probably a eq in the dash.

 

The JL has great freq. response for a 6.5in Woofer.

 

I was really curious about those 6.5 inch JL's as well. I figured along with a good set of components, you would wind up with a very nice "quiet" system that still had great SQ, some punch to the mids and some nice bottom end fill.

I also don't imagine it would be much problem to squeeze 2 or 3 of them into a box behind the passenger side of a Double Cab. Probably a bit of an unconventional system, but I think it may be a good solution for those folks that don't need something with high SPL or ultra low bass capability.
