I did the rear view "mod" a while ago. On a 2015, you just push it up. It's got a double elbow doohickey

True but it also has a higher boiling point & won't cause corrosion.

I have replaced 3 radiators in 2 Toyota cars within 5 years of each other.
One year 2 radiators, one on each car...
Then, another within 3 years after that.
The "Toyotas Only" mechanic told me, "you need to change radiator coolant every year"
Well as fast as I was going thru radiators, I believed him.
I'm not faithful in doing that and thanks for the tip to Evans Coolant.
    That's an excellent option.

I have an old 5 gallon toilet in my house.
I asked my plumber about the old "bricks in the tank" method of using less water.
He cautioned me that the brick may crack the porcelain holing tank.
He suggested plastic 1/2 gallon milk jugs, I tried that, but they float.
So I placed empty aluminum CocaCola cans filled with water, IT WORkS!
3 years or so later I reach in the toilet holding tank and pulled a coke can out
It sprayed water like a sprinkler head....

There were pin holes eaten all thru the cans... Just water & aluminum.

Take an old aluminum pot and put water in it and then set it aside for 2 weeks.
All kinds of crap grows on aluminum in water.

I saw on tv there is a pump/vacuum similar to the ones used on a/c systems & I think it pulls all the antifreeze out while pumping in the Evans.
This is the show I saw it on, the Evans part starts at about 8:30

When I read this post I Laughed My Fucking Ass Off!

    Esp. The doohickey part.
Mine is assembled this way, but the ball in the windshield mount didn't budge when I attempted
Pushing up on it. I was reluctant to apply too much force, as I dint wanto break it.

What is this mod you speak of & will it work on a '12? I'm tired or ducking to see under my mirror. Lol

That's a very technical term. It's tough to move up, but trust me it'll go. Use two hands. One to hold the doodad that's glued to the windshield and the other to push up on the whatzit ( mirror )

The wind shield mount has a ball joint on one end at the windshield.

The mirror is on the mirror end, the mirror moves tilts and spins freely.
(Note: I don't have a back up cam, or roof console with map lights)

I think he just pushed up on the windshield ball....
With more force than I used.

I don't know exactly what years have this mirror configuration, but I felt stupid after someone told me about it after I was bitching a little about not being able to use the metal extender-upper because my remote start antenna was in the way.

    It Worked!

I did pop the mirror off the mirror ball when I did this tho'
    It snapped back in.

Some are doing a mirror flip... I think they are flipping the doohickey upside down to make it even higher.... Any way it's dark out so I'll see how this works tomorrow.

    Thanks Phil!
