I'd be starting on the WA/OR border, going North

stopping for fuel, and hopefully fires don't bother us much

might need to get a small chainsaw..

ORBDR I believe is 'scattered' in that there are multiple ways to get to the same point, and the intended allure is the choose your own adventure aspect of the trail. I know that ORBDR is more technical as well, and I think it's bigger. WABDR is simply a single line. I don't know if OOHVA does anything else, but they were the first to make a BDR and exist to keep the map updated - I don't think there's an organization that is set up for any of the other ones. I can't remember who set up/is setting up IDBDR and COBDR, it may be Touratech? It's some motorcycle group, but they are doing it more WABDR-style in terms of map releases I think.
WABDR is grassroots maintained in terms of mapping, and has a surprising amount of organization along the ADV community as a whole. Very surprising that 4 wheeled organizations don't do much.

As for coming, it's a bit early for me to get away. I have an appointment with LCNW on the 30th to talk suspension and I need to know what comes out of that. My front end is still bouncy (feels like I'm only on springs occasionally) and I'm worried slightly on binding the uniballs.

Random question: Do we fill our ATF through the ATF dip stick tube? Either my GoogleFu is weak (entirely possible), it's a secret, or it's so obvious everyone should know. I found the oil fill cap, but nothing for the ATF.

Not that it should be low, but still...

I was about to say its sealed... then remembered you had a first gen. I will allow another first genner to comment on your predicament.

I've just noticed what sounds like new sounds when I shift from Park to Drive, so I decided to check it. I THINK it's ok...but the ATF dipstick is all bent and a bitch to get back in...so I am unsure at this point. Hard to get a clean reading on the situation when I pull...out...yeah.

Yes, that is the location but make sure your funnel is well fitted and that you pour slowly so the bubbles escape and don't burp...

Finally ordered the parts for a Bussman ruse/relay box setup. God damn it, its expensive. Doing almost the same setup as this, but with the 10 relay/40 fuse combo box.

I'm stoked to know that the gf agreed to take next year's vacation in Oregon. Our trip there a couple of months ago wasn't long enough. This time we'll be there for about 3 weeks. Open to ideas of things to do while there. We'll be staying in southern Oregon, but will have a rental to drive north. I can't wait.

I've been working on plans to put one of these together for a while just haven't gotten to the point I'm ready to pull the trigger and spend $300 on all the crap to build it. I want to get it in before I start adding accessories though so I do it right from the start and don't have to fix a rats nest of wiring.

I tested out his DIY before he posted it on the forums.

I have all the goodies. ;)

I have quite a rats nest going on and the cheapy NAPA fuse panel I have doesn't work anymore. I figured it was time to finally bite the bullet and do this.

Nice! You notice anything worth changing or did it all work out as good as it looks?

Kill a bear or a mountain lion. They are very much overpopulated, you will be doing a great service to the wildlife. It's also cheap entertainment, and is a good excuse to get out there into the blank part of the map.

    Damn, they're that bad?!?!?

I'm definitely gonna have to get on to some trails. Our rental was a 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer so we couldn't really leave the roads. I really wish I had my truck out there.

Would've but we rented from a small place in LA then drove up to Oregon. The place had zero trucks.
