Well what have I done, nothing, but the truck sat out on the street last night and got hit by a hit and run driver. Damage all down the drivers side. Only have 3000 miles on her. Fortunately the great officers that we have here found the guy, wasn't to hard he lost a front wheel, they just followed the marks in the pavement. He got to spend the night in the gray bar motel. Truck is already at body shop checking damage underneath.image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Damn... That sucks! Hope they throw down the gauntlet on that guy. I presume he was DUI... Good luck with the repairs!

    Nothing worthy

    Damn that sucks!
short story (sorry) Before we bought our taco my gf's car was parked on street, we were woken up at 6am to a SMASH, went back to sleep. I got up at 8 to see her car a car length ahead on the driveway smashed into my car!! as we waited 4HRS!!! for the cops to show up I already pieced and glued the corner light of his durango together.
Along with a paint chip (barely any parts were left behind, i think he picked stuff up) I handed it to the cop and said look for a 93 or so gold Durango. Alright he says. Months go by with nothing. Im going out to car and see him drive by!!! all smashed up etc. We had eye contact, he freaked and took off well over the speed limit, running stop signs. I Caught up to him, took his plate # and pics. Cops found him and he said he was out of town during that time so theres nothing they could do and color was not a match.. BULLSHIT!!

Two days after getting my new truck we left on a series of road trips in the wife's car, so I'm just now getting things set up like I had in my old second gen. Nothing big, just "nesting" to have things like I want them. Installed my truck box from the previous truck, got a new cylinder for the BOLT latch so I could re-key it to the new truck key (shown in the photo). Got my phone mount installed and routed the cables with clips(I have loose cables). The mount is an iOttie easy touch 2 which has a very long arm, which puts the phone where I want it but makes it subject to vibration, so I use a piece of rubber plumping hose with cutouts to stabilize it. Installed the Salex organizer. Oh...and my Wet Okoles came in yesterday so....no more towels on the seats when I come back from a muddy trail run.

Yep blew a .17 on a PBT (portable beath test) charged with having a blood alcohol level above .15. Funny thing is after hitting my taco he drove to Taco Bell on 3 tires.
Collision center said leafy spring broke and punctured gas tank. Said there is a lot wrong underneath, but doesn't know yet the total damage for a couple more days. I do know both back tires were pointing at 1:30/2:00 instead of being in the 12:00 position inline with the truck.

Such a drag that this happened to your new truck! Best of luck getting it back to factory condition! Then you can continue spending your hard earned money on mods;)

Today was the T-Day. Trudy got her new shoes. Unfortunately...it rubs...So what I told my wife would be the "last mod for a long while" just turned into a CMC.

It looks really good despite needing the CMC. How high is your lift and what size tires?

I'd say it's the leaf springs. It is really common on the previous generations of Tacoma. Wouldn't surprise me if it will still be on these ones.

It's a 3" Bilstein lift from Head Strong and the tires are 285/70/17. The more I think about it the more I can't stomach the idea of cutting my less than one year old truck. If I went down to 275's would it rub? the 285's only rub at full lock hitting a bump. Which means when the coils settle it'll be more often.

I'll cut it. I have an old Huffy bike frame to use up, I can fab up a tubular cab mount from it.

Somebody who knows nothing about lifts besides its cool will buy it. That lift looks like problems down the road.

I think this was done at RSG Off Road on Colfax. Looking at their facebook page they have one that looks exactly like it sitting on 35's with a 6 inch BDS lift. I don't know anything about them and have never been there.
