I'm going to rig up my GoPro pointed at the rear diff and see what it looks like when making the noise. Will share findings.

Durango Toyota confirmed my howl today. Set to have rear diff replaced. Dealer told me Toyota has an open "investigation" and that the rear diff is listed as back ordered with no availability date. They suspected that was due to the investigation. They also told me the tech was instructed to inspect, check tolerances, and micrometer readings before the new one is installed. I am driving as is until then.

I am not sure how loud everyone else's diff noise is, but mine starts at 53mph and continues up through 72mph and can be easily heard over the radio (JBL package) with volume on 14. The tech had no problem hearing the noise. They had my car from 8am to 3pm. The tech talked with several people at Toyota about it.

I'm sure some do, but I haven't directly heard anyone mention that. Good luck getting it fixed or even having a dealer look at it if it is lifted....

I need help with this. I hear a howl like noise at 35 to 45 mph or so but then goes away the faster i go. I have a 2wd, does that matter?

Howl from front or back? Have you read up on the LCA TSB? The 35-45mph range sounds like the LCA's.

See I don't know where it's coming from. If I put my ear to the window I can hear it. I roll the window down and don't hear anything. I'd have no idea if it comes from the back but i also only have a 2WD and dont know if that makes a difference.

Take it to the dealer. Let them figure it out. That is why you bought a brand new fucking truck with warranty. We can't tell you from here...If you can't tell we surely can't tell. Your description of the issue does not match the rear end Howl symptoms. That doesn't mean you don't have it. But you may have both issues

It's not going to make a difference either way. Plug your LCA's. If the noise continues, congratulations, you have a Tacoma.

Yeah tape will work. Search around, there are threads on what holes to plug. Might even be stickied. I'd look for you but I'm drunk.
