Thanks again for all the info. I have seen that video and they unbuckle the strap before flipping into the vertical position. I'd really just like to see if it can be flipped vertical at all with the straps buckled in place.

Alright magicroy - I really appreciate your help and i'm officially being a PITA. I snipped a couple of your pics and marked them to try to clarify the question I have. Intuitively, it seems like the cover should flip up without having to undo the straps. BAK said its not possible. I simply am not getting it, but i'm sure its obvious if I could try it. This is the last detail I was hoping to understand before pulling the trigger on this cover.

I plan to drive with it in this open/strapped flat position on a regular basis. If it can stay strapped and flip up, a tool box mounted under the front section can be accessed without having to walk around to the other side to unstrap the cover. Its really just the strap on the passenger side that makes it a pain if it has to be undone to flip the cover up. First world problems ;)

I made a video for you but it will not let me attach it. Or I can't figure it out. I will try to upload it to YouTube and send you a link.

Canned responses are standard of the industry...unfortunately. However, BAK was helpful with getting my choices narrowed down (between Gator, etc.). I liked the matte black/aluminum panel construction, I guess others are plastic on foam.

Anyways, see pic. Sorry its a $hitty one, but you can easily access the front of the bed when the lid is folded up. I have a large gear bag that is full of my bug out stuff, recovery gear, etc. that I can access by unclipping a carabiner and sliding it back.20160807_173331.jpg

Dude, I owe you big time! So it does work! Again seemed like it would but don't get why BAK insisted it wouldnt. I will be placing my order soon. Thanks again!

I am going to get the MX4 soon. Do you know if there is a cargo divider that will work with it?

No I don't. I have looked. The Toyota divider would be to tall after lowering rail. I just got me a Toyota envelope net for now. The Toyota divider be sweet if I was a good welder and alter it just a little.

    UPDATE:

I just returned from a backcountry Sierras camping trip. Dusty 4x trail. Had everything for a family of 4 stuffed into the bed with the Bakflip closed. The sleeping bags pushed up on the cover a bit, so the seals were slightly raised on the rails in some spots -- still, no dust entered. I even went to a coin-op wash on the way home to rinse off the dust/dirt -- even with the seal raised, no water entered under pressure spray.

And just because -- truck pics...265/75/16 Toyo Open Country AT2s...and Yeti Coolers are bearproof!

I have a 2016 TRD Sport long bed......I have a cover that I could not get the elevator bolts in because the holes were mis-drilled...Anyone else have that problem....The bolts go in at an angle...BAK is going to replace cover and they are good about it..Sent pictures and they could not believe it.......

Also, I got two bulkhead seals....A "red one" and a "white one".....which one do I put on?

Finally, there seams to be small hole at the front of the cover....Can we use black RTV or silicon to seal these?

There is 2 square foam seals for the 2 holes in the front. You have to remove the bulk head to put these in. You don't use either one of the bulk head seals (long ones) according to video on the 2016 Tacoma and according to what I was told by Bak on the phone.

Thanks...I got two more long "White Seals" today from BAK.......Don't know what to do now.....I guess I will wait until I get the new cover, take off the old seal and try without one......Had little water along the rails front cab to tailgate.....Thinking of taking the rails off and add a very small line of Black silicon under the rails to seat completely since I will not be taking rails off.....will see what happens with that....

I just get really confused on whether to add the seals or not...Some say use red...some say use white and some say don't use any at all....hehehehe.......will figure it out.......I really like this cover because it is flat and sits low....I did already put the end caps on....

Where did you install the new tailgate seal? Did you do anything extra on the side rails? Mine seem to allow some water in with out pressure

Do any of you with MX4's mind sharing some more photos of the rail setup post-install? From what I've seen it looks like the rail is offset lower. How is this working out for y'all? Thanks!

yes.....that's correct.....It sit about 1" lower....THa is what gives it the "flush" look.....I was really happy with it....Great cover......but them I realized that I might not be able to get a cargo divider to fit......need to do a measurement.....or maybe I can cut down the Toyota divider.....
