I have a 2016 SuperWhite Tacoma TRD OR 2wd and had a cheap 2 1/2" spacer and rear 1" block lift with 17" SCS Ray10's with 285/70/17 BFG KO2's. I had the install done at a quality sport shop here in San Antonio.

The manager mentioned to me since it was brand new truck, just keep the 4600 bilsteins on it and just add the spacer / blocks. Instead of what I originally wanted 5100 Bills all 4 and OME coils and rear 2" deaver AAL's.

So I went the cheap route being I was thinking of trading it in for a 2017 Tundra TRD PRO, but after thinking I may keep the Tacoma and just add the 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro grill, skid plate and a few other 17 accessories.

I don't like my ride at all with the cheap lift!

Also I don't like the hight, was looking for a bit lower but yet keep the 285 tires and 17" rims. The lift now has no rub or trim work!

I am wondering if I could have all my lift installed and do it right with quality parts as others here with the 5100's all 4 and coils and leafs. Would that hurt the wear on my truck installing and redoing or would it be fine.

Also, I was trading also for a 4WD being I never owned on but if this Tacoma can get the look and feel I want, then I'll keep it. I do know many here always raging on those with 2wd's don't know why but kinda make those feel 2nd class to the 4WD'ers, but either way I don't care because I'm not looking for it, but just a more aggressive feel and look!.

This is the lift look I have now, but again, now that I'm considering keeping it what would be a better all round lift to do, the lift now is a little higher in the rear and I will not be towing or heavy loads in back so I would rather get a better level stance with minimal to zero hight in rear.

Any help on what a good solid quality set up might be, Headstrong has been so helpful but I still get confused!?

You can find a wheels offset if you know the width and backspacing though. 17x7 w4.25 backspace has an offset of +6.

Toytec Boss lift with rear add a leaf
So getting a whole new kit like the ome or the 3 leaf progressive add a leaf would be a better ride than just adding a leaf or helper spring to the original factory leafs in the rear?

Thanks for the replies. I just want to do this right the first time.

Today I had a chance to hook up the trailer and haul some wood(cut down a English walnut and loaded my 6x12 trailer). There was noticeable sag in the factory rear but not as bad as expected.

After seeing this I'm optimistic that I only need about an inch and a half lift in the front. So for the rear I'd need something that will get me about two and a half inches of lift.

My thoughts after today are adjustable 5100's and bigger coils up front or another setup close to that. And for the rear, headstrong progressive aal and new shocks. I guess something like this from headstrong
    http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/st...with_HS_3-Leaf_Add-a-leaf_-_2016__Tacoma.html

I don't want to be cheap about it but at the same time I'm on a budget.

    Thanks again!

Old Man Emu 885 coils, 90021 nitrocharger front struts, 60091 nitrocharger rear struts, progressive 3 leaf AAL with overload removed. Trim packer for the drivers side lean. (x2) 1/4" top plate spacers (get these from wheelers offroad $23 delivered)

The front should net you 2"-2 1/4" and the back 1 1/2". You'll sit pretty much level within 1/4" of an inch. I'd say 887's will be too tall..

This is a proper suspension that should ride nice on and off road. It will cost you about $1k from headstrong offroad delivered.

You can get much more expensive lifts, but for what you're looking to do it's overkill..

Ya, I can only really speak to the single 1.5" AAL. I installed Ext. Kings all around with UCA's, set at factory height except drivers side to compensate for lean. I think it gave me something like 1.25" up front. Truck drove really nice with the stock rear springs. I decided I wanted to maintain the factory rake so I installed the AAL from Wheelers. It just makes the spring rate too high, frustrating having a smooth plush front and then the back riding harsh. Also it gave me 2" of lift in the back, I was hoping for less than 1.5". With about 400 lbs in the back it rides much better but that's not really a solution. I ordered the Deaver 10 leaf pack and will install it soon. If I find they sag too much with a load when camping I may use sumo springs or similar in addition. I think you are on the right track, from what I hear the OME kits are very solid, and if you do a bit of hauling I think I would lean toward the 5leaf Dakar pack versus a progressive add a leaf. That is just from my own research and reading though, I have no experience with either.

Sounds great, I'll look into it! What I have now with this lift I don't like the sway or highway drive, seems not firm and don't like the steering wheel play maintaining the straight drive staying in lane, if you understand what I mean, It's kinda hard to explain!

    Thanks

Go to the search box and click more, then type 885 and select 3rd gen forums. There should be a good number of results. A lot of people run 887's going for 2 1/2"-3" of lift, but there should still be enough to get an idea on lift and ride expectations. Spacers get you look, but they're the worst lift you can do..

Anyone know if TRDOR springs and shocks up front offer any lift over the Hitachi springs and shocks? Both would be in stock form. I believe they use different springs, I assume the ride quality would be better, just not sure about any other benefit.

I would ill advise against this lift kit... That kit is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to drop bracket type lifts. With these type of lifts, a section of the front crossmember is cut out for clearance. You may have good luck, but if it were me, I'd trust my suspension to bds or rcd. Especially if I was doing anything with it besides mall crawling..

Thanks for the advice! I don't have thousands of dollars to drop on a lift and the most off road this truck sees is going to grab a dead deer off the farm. Blistein is supposedly coming out with a 3inch lift kit that isn't out yet( https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/toyo...ft-kits/bilstein-lift-kit-2016-toyota-tacoma/ ). Also thinking about the pro comp 3" http://www.procompusa.com/suspension-product-details.aspx?pt=3533&pl=1808. Don't have 3000 to drop like most of you on here...even though I wish I could
