No I didn't buy or really rent it. Just have the opportunity to move into it thanks to my aunt and uncle. All I gotta do is pay utilities. And my firearms training courses are expensive, gear is expensive, and ammo is expensive. I'm hooked though after training in Foley.

Curious...how are you coming up with $2K? I'm thinking gas will be the biggest expense. Maybe a hotel on the drive to and from if we don't camp.

I mean....just some quick math...worst case scenario type stuff.

    ~4000 miles round trip
    @ 16mpg average
    = 250 gallons
    @ $2.50 average/gal
= $625 gas just for trip.

    Hotel (8 nights) = ~120$/night = $960
(this is if we stay in a hotel every single night)

Gas at MOAB = ?? let's just say another $200?

    Food: Average 30$/day (10$/meal) for 9 days = $270

so total there is about $2,055? estimates obviously...

give me input or corrections guys, this was just a 30 sec number crunch and I could be way off on some stuff..

    LOL! Right?

Hope the Alabama boys meet up with the South Carolina boys and run out there together. I know timing is everything but would be a blast.

I'm hooking up with one/both of these groups and heading out there. First time out there and buying a bunch of stuff (i.e. excuse to mod ). Looking forward to it.

Pumped to see this come together.

LOL! Love it. Ok, my budget just went to $2500 now..

I have a rear locker on my TRD but might need to bring some green for "winch services". Or beer.

It's gonna be a hella good time. We aren't planning to attend the Jamboree (just to save time and money), but we plan to be arriving in Moab on May 7th the same as the SC group so we can all meet up.

Beer and food are relatively normal expenses, so I don't include those in the budget!

I've got 5k budgeted for a week long trip. I'm a small business owner, so no paid days off. I like to have a bit extra, just in case. You never know what could happen out in the middle of nowhere. If I can save up about 7-8k, I'll likely do the whole 2 week trip.

Beer is usually the accepted form of payment for anything "services" related within the group...

I plan on camping the entire time at Moab, but it sounds like some people may stay in a hotel. Is anyone going to try any overlanding while there or just staying in a campground. I know its early for this, but just curious.

I don't have the gear for a true overlanding trip. I'll probably stay in a hotel, plus I'm old and like creature comforts.

Round trip will be almost 4000 miles. Gas isn't $2.00 everywhere. Nor will they stay that way. I calculated $2.50-2.60 a gallon. I doubt we will camp the whole time. Renting a cabin is an option for a few night. Food won't be that much. I'm not much of a drinker, I tend to attempt keeping up with the heavy weight when I do and it never works out very well in the end. Most hotels are $120 a night. I rather budget high then not budget enough.
