Too bad you guys aren't down south. We could all grab some drinks and talk about the trip. I'd buy first round!

Maybe we can plan something when you make a trip up here for armor?

I'm down with that. About 5.5 hours, could make a weekend out of that and some trails.

I am! For sure. Even if everyone else does a hotel I will be on my own in my RTT possibly in the parking lot

I'll do this entire trip for $800-900 or less. I do a yearly 2 week long hunting trip to the U.P. of Michigan for around $800 including my licenses!

More advice...do NOT get gas at the station at the turn off the highway going to Moab. HWY70 and 191. They price gouge extremely. Fill up in Grand Junction, then head straight to Moab.

I am considering the Jamboree and Moab.

If a nice RTT group buy occurs, I'll probably grab one myself. I already want a roof rack for my kayak. It fits in my bed ok, but when I go to FL, I like to carry it and I put my bestop on. Prefer to be able to close the tailgate with it on. Depending on what all I carry, I could even sleep in the bed under the bestop.

I definitely would prefer hotel on the drive there and back. My wife will probably come, but she refuses to drive my truck. Need to break her of that habit. Never the less, I want to be well rested while driving on the highways. As for in Moab, a few nights camping and a few nights in a hotel would be a nice blend. Biggest thing for me is being able to grab a shower.

I agree, I would want to get a shower, but I do like the idea of camping (and the cost)

Even if you don't have a RTT camping will REALLY reduce the cost of this trip. I'd probably be okay with cheap motels on the way out there and back for convince but I don't plan on staying in one other wise.

Showers can be had outside of a hotel wether it's a sun shower or just a whores bath in the tent before starting your day. Lots of ways to stay clean while camping, especially when truck camping.

I do a lot of backpacking and that's when you start scraping comforts like a shower.

There's a good amount of free camping areas, most without facilities though. The KOA I hear has showers, but they're very much anti-ohv so I avoid them. There's plenty of creeks and things around you could clean off in too haha

Now that is camping! And probably why my wife doesn't always want to go...

I'm a camper. Hell, I'll even sleep in a parking lot if need be.

Awesome I won't be alone in the parking lot anymore! I'll pitch my RTT right there if the majority ends up wanting to stay in a hotel.

I've been known to string a hammock from the truck to a lamp post every now and then. I have no shame. I'm the guy that'll change clothes in the parking lot too.

There's a guy down here who has a 10 gallon water tank in the bed of his truck and he pressurizes it with his on board air to use as a shower. I'm thinking about building something like that for when I'm camping.

Yup. I love trying to make trips as cheap as possible. Even with good beer I bet I can do the whole trip under $900. Not including the 4-6k in truck mods

I made a smaller one that I mount on top of my shell. It gets very hot when the sun is out. I pressurize it as well, but it only holds about 3.5 gallons. I should have made it a little bigger. Zoom in on the picture. It's just PVC pipe.

Any functionality issues with it? I like that set up.
