She's on her feet.....walked out to her bowl and ate a little, and is sorta playing with her little sister. Meds seem to be kicking in. Still planning on staying up with her. She sat with me the entire night once when my wife had gall bladder surgery that went terribly wrong. She ended up with a severe infection. I thought for sure we were going to lose her. Baby sat there all night with me while I talked to her. To this day I still think she understood every word I said.

She was a rescue dog we got when she was 9 weeks old. I'm still wondering who rescued who....

The Toller in my avatar is now there. I swore after waiting too long with the family dog I would not wait too long this time for him. I am on the border. He keeps pulling through somehow, but not for long. It sucks and I hate what you are going through, but they depend on us for everything including the end. Don't want to wait too long but sure as hell don't want to do it too early. Hate going through this and also not fond of cleaning up puke and diarrhea most mornings. But sometimes he gives me those "eyes" and I just can't do it and things are better for a day or two... Blue you are the only one that knows from the sounds of things. My heart goes out to you and the memories will always be there. Mine has been through so much with me in the roughest times of my life that I don't want to let go, and that is not a good thing.

We got this crazy Heinz 57 dog from a local vet. She and her siblings were orphaned when her mom was run over by a car. She is my shadow and is about 13 yo. Deafer than a doorknob and going blind. My wife gets the dogs but its always my job to help them move on damnit.

I had to get up off the floor for a while. Since 9PM, I've been laying next to Baby, letting her lick my hand (which seems to be her favorite thing on earth!) She fell asleep while ago. She seems to be resting peacefully. Apparently the meds started doing their job. That's the problem. Over the years, Baby has built up a tolerance to the medicine. The vet is trying to locate a new med that might do the same job, but without the tolerance. I owe this dog every effort we have in us to keep her alive with a quality of life.....No pain. She's special. So....Long story short, she seems to be doing OK for now. I know time is short.

:( sorry to hear this Kept praying my shepherd would just not wake up in the morning so I didn't have to put her down. Poor thing had bad hips and a bad back :pout: and she was suffering so I had to do it. Then my avatar pup :pout: Was over 5 years ago and it still feels like yesterday.

cute pup. Shadow (shepherd) never cried, but she panted like crazy all day and rarely moved. Kept her several days longer than I should have, for her sake. Never easy to do, but have to think about them and not us.

    night Greg

Just now realized I haven't ate a thing all day. My wife is going to take a turn watching Baby while I go get a bite. It's starting to look like she'll be OK for now, but I'm not taking any chances. Until I see a tail waggin' and a big dawg smile on her face, she's gonna have eyes on her. Even the birds know something is up....They've been really quiet all evening.
