I have never done a snorkeling excursion, just off the local beaches. Any tours you suggest over others?

    Cheers

For sliders I think @ffdawson is right just rattle can them. But there is a line-X shop on Piner. It's a small shop and if you blink at the right time you will miss it. The quality of work looked good to me but the guys that owned the place seemed a little ruff.

Agreed with @ffdawson my rattle can had held up for 3 years now, home improvement stores sell rolls of like 3" thick grip tape for stairs. I put a piece of that down most of the main tube and it's perfect for traction.

If anything get them powder coated, but I wouldn't like x them.

this is why I went to college and learned computer programming... back in the early 1970s. I did work a graveyard shift (40 hrs/week) as a computer tape operator for 1 year while in college (took 1 early morning class, and the rest evening, and slept during the day), but ever since its been flex time with telecommuting options. sure, there were some startups where I was working 60+ hours/week (for salary plus stock options), but the IPO made all that worth while.

Can't think of any off the top of my head, but there are a handful that leave from maalaea which isn't too far from Kihei. There's a bunch that leave from whalers village in kaanapali that go up north to kapalua and honolua bay.

    A few things
Honolua bay is an awesome place to snorkel depending upon swell. Also check out black rock, which is at the north end of kaanapali beach. Turtle beach down by wailea I have heard can be good, but I never had much luck. If you are into some good drinks, check out Maui brewing and the ocean vodka distillery. Lahaina is cool with all the tourist shopping junk and if you are feeling daring go visit Tony Mucci at skin deep tattoo. Anther cool little town is Paia. Some good food and shops, also I hear Willie Nelson lives around there and can be spotted from time to time.

Thanks dudes, generating a list of potential places to visits. Got to jam a good amount into 4 days, because the other 2 I'm doing nothing but sitting on beach drinking local spirits and smoking the local Maui waui :rasta:

I love Kihei, we've been to Maui 2 times now and stayed in Kaanapali (west shore) both times, but did split the last trip with Kihei. Road to Hana is cool but long, so if you only have 6 days there I would skip it. There is a waterfall hike on Hana (can't remember the name nuts in one of the famous ones earlier in the drive) that we did and it was pretty sweet. 2 miles each way and you hike through a giant bamboo forest at one point. Lots of people but we still enjoyed it.

If we go back to Maui we will definitely stay in Kihei again. We had the kid with us so I'm not a great source of tours.
