Very unlikely you will see an aftermarket tuner from a mainstream company. The EPA is on a which hunt to shut them down. They just sued Harley Davidson for 12 million for offering engine tunes.

Here is a worrying part of the article.

The EPA has been investigating after-market part emission issues for more than five years.

In 2012, Suzuki Motor Corp (7269.T) paid an $885,000 fine to EPA for selling 25,458 all-terrain vehicles and off-road motorcycles because they were built to allow for the installation of an after-market part to increase horsepower and emissions.

Several other companies have paid fines to EPA in recent years for selling after-market parts to diesel truck owners to remove emission controls and boost horsepower and fuel efficiency.

The EPA made Toyota castrate our trucks

 

Yet Harley is still selling race tuner programs. The EPA can get big corporations for tuning but most small performance shops are just fine all they have to do is say its for offroad use only.

i e-mailed a high end tune shop i saw on power train TV show. asked them about tuning the 2016 they said they 'can not tune' Toyota guess they should have said 'they won't' tune 2061 Toyota.

Garret tuned my 3L 11.5:1 compression VR6 back in the early 00's. Personally tuning one of these isnt gonna net you shit for the cost.

 

Just gut it and swap in a LS1 motor for christs sake.

Huh, well then maybe you could enlighten me on why you seem to know so much about it. Maybe you tried to crack the ECU yourself and didnt succeed? There are componies working on this and was talking to my local guys recently who said when/if someone develops a blower for the 3.5 motor they will focus on it and get it. Was also told by them that there has been a couple shops crack the ECUs we use just not enough tuning time to actually put it out on the market and advertise. Being able to tune the truck is only part of it, getting a feel for the truck and what they can accomplish with a tune on a dyno is a whole different ballgame. Being there is no forced induction easily accessible kit per say for these trucks probably makes them low on the priority list as there wont be a whole lot of breath taking numbers to advertise with and intake and exhaust to get people in the door to throw them on the dyno.

In other words, they alter the fuel curve to make it run as lean as possible, which in turn will make HP and save fuel, but also burns holes in pistons.
