Anyone running a mid travel front with a mild long travel SUA rear? My front setup is performing really well as is, but the rear with the stiff dakar springs can't quite keep up. I about did a shock relocation to get a long shock in there but decided against it because my leafs are the limiting factor in the up travel which is more important to me than the down travel for the type of driving I like to do. SUA seem to be the way to get the results I want in the rear but I have two reservations about it.

    1) My rear end is heavy, am I going to be able to get a spring pack that will support the weight. I know when @sytfu510 went to spring under he had to go on a major diet to get the rear end to level out.

    2) Is the SUA worth it for a daily driver/weekend warrior type truck with only a mid travel front. I am concerned I am just sliding down a slope to the pit of long travel.

    ...too much shit to list.
I used to be MT front with SUA rear.
My truck has a fat ass too and I'm on LT leaf pack number 3. 3rd time was the charm for me with customizations. Go custom leaf pack or don't bother.
You will probably graduate to LT front once you realize the rear outdrives the front and it's just so much damn fun.

Any words of wisdom on building a custom leaf pack for fat tacos?

Load up your truck as close to what your expo load is going to be, find a truck scale and get a rear axle weight. Call Deaver and give them your rear axle weight and how much lift you have / want to maintain. Wait 6-8 weeks for them to be built.

That's easy. How did @jberry813 go through three packs to get it right?

I'm not sure but my guess would be that he had mid travel first then went LT with an over the counter leaf pack and then dialed it in from there...or maybe when he built his trailer and moved all of that equipment to the trailer he had to readjust from the loss of weight.

When it comes to leafs look at it this way - they are no different than your front coil springs they are just a flat spring. You dial in the load handling you need = spring rate and then valve your shocks to fine tune performance. A lot of folks don't realize that you can actually tweak your spring rate a bit with a leaf pack simply by playing with your shackle angles too. An incorrect shackle angle can make your leafs much stiffer...or weaker. Google it, you'll find a ton of info but ultimately you want to get the leafs right and be able to run an optimal shackle angle.

...or get a leaf pack designed for your empty weight and just add airbags. Daily driving unloaded on an expo pack isn't exactly fun IMO...that's one of the things that steered me into links...I just could not find a happy medium.

I should clarify too that you can get custom airbags and build custom mounts for them just as if you were fitting custom shocks. You don't just have to stick to the over the counter airbag kits that are meant for picking up a load of mulch on the weekends.

That's kinda where I am with Dakats now. On the other hand it's great loaded, and the rest of the time; it rides like a truck. So live with it? Much like race truck parts, race truck noises....

Are air bags ever going to compete with the right springs and shocks to hammer washboards with weight in the truck though?

King 2.5 w 700lb coils, bamf rear mount and sliders, alcan rear springs, 12 inch king smoothies, allpro front bumper, allpro uca, 34x10.50 bfg at ko2, total chaos gussets
So I'm finishing up my rear today (bamf shock tower, king 2.0 12's, alcan 2+200lbs, and archive shackle flip) and just wondering what do you all use for a shock reservoir mount?
I see majority seems like zip ties but anybody got anything better?
Was considering cutting a piece of tube lengthwise and welding it to the frame with some hose clamps to hold the resi.
