Desert racing while living in NJ is all but impossible. If I were to move to Arizona, what area(s) would everyone recommend?

I enjoy snowboarding, wakeboarding, mountain biking, rock climbing, offroading with the truck (yes, crawling too), etc. My current job would most likely allow me to work remotely.

Not sure if I'd rent or buy. Would really depend on house prices and how much I like the area. No HOAs for me.

Suggest away. I'm busy at work at the moment but I'll bounce in and out of this thread throughout the day.

    Thanks!!

I've been all over the west. Flagstaff has A LOT to offer to an outdoorsman. It's beautiful and has plenty of hiking, hunting, wheeling, etc. You get 4 genuine seasons with mild summers and winters. AZ has pretty lax laws too. That's one place my wife and I would gladly move to. It is expensive though. But hey, I think it's worth it.

The whole southwest rocks. There are cool places to live in CO, NM, AZ, and UT.

hmmm well to get all of those within an hour is not really easy but withing 3 hours easy.....I live in Red Rock which is just north of Tucson and 45 min from Phoenix. In the immediate area there is great high speed desert trails I have one behind my house I drive daily and love it. Rock climbing and mountain biking are everywhere you can go snow boarding in winterhaven or Showlo the first is only 30 minutes away the latter 3hours. Wakeboarding you can go to Roosevelt or any of the salt river lakes and they are within 3 hours of Tucson, or if you wish to go to the ocean San Diego is only 350miles.....Great place to live and cheap.....

    Nothing yet, brand new!
Arizona code prohibits the use of more than two jackstands per vehicle.

I too absolutely love Flag that area is all Pine forest and gorgeous obviously it would have a much more mild climate where as PHX and Tucson are desert country and are viscious hot in the summer (appx 4months) but the over 3/4 of the year its beautiful. Right now its 68 outside.

By the way, the entire southern half of the state is FUCKING BLAZING HOT! If you're cool with heat, it's fine. I spend too much time outdoors to live down there though. You have to jog at like 5 in the morning, and it's still like 100 degrees.

I get down to Tucson about once a year to visit an uncle. He is the GM of El Conquistador on the north end of town. There is actually some cool stuff to do there. There is a good area to hike just a couple miles north of his resort. I can't remember the name of the park though.? I've been wanting to do the Ironman there too.

I like the town. I can't take the heat though.
